Disappointment continues to grow toward DAY6's concert amid growing controversy over the group's ID verification process, despite the recent apology.
On July 21, JYP Entertainment released an official statement saying, "First and foremost, we sincerely apologize to the attendees of the DAY6 4TH FANMEETING ‘PIER 10: All My Days’ who experienced inconvenience and distress due to the identity verification procedures."
The label continued, "We have confirmed the excessive collection and request of personal information during the concert. These issues arose during the admission process, which had been outsourced to an external operator. The external operating company unnecessarily requested additional personal data or collected and shared attendees’ personal information for further verification of submitted documents, causing discomfort to fans."
Although the agency issued an apology and stated that those who were unable to enter the event would receive a full refund, fans have gathered in a popular online community to further criticize JYP Entertainment, claiming that the latest statement seemed insincere and accusing the agency of deflecting blame.
These fans and netizens commented:
"So they're blaming the external operators now? They're the ones who direct them, aren't they?"
"I'm done."
"They shared personal information in a group chat? That's insane. Do they not know what the laws are? Refunds are a given. They should be sued."
"So fans get treated like crazy fangirls and lowlives for liking their favorite artist, and a refund is supposed to make up for it?"
"Blaming the external operating company for this is so lame."
"The operating company only follows orders from the company. JYP was the one in charge. If JYP sues the external company, maybe we'll believe them."
"And what about the time it took for fans to travel there and be sent back?"
"Some fans were sent back even with their parents and police. Like a refund could make up for the time wasted. I feel so bad for them."
"This was seriously messed up."
"It just sounds like JYP is avoiding taking responsibility. They're blaming the operating company."
"Seriously? Even banks don't go that far for ID checks."
"That's it? They're ending it with just a refund?"
"I feel bad for their fans. They dealt with humiliation just because they liked the artist."
"A full refund? How will they compensate for the time and travel?"
"I'm sure it was the agency that ordered the strict ID checks. I hope the victim who had their IDs shared on the group chat sues."
"I saw on X (formerly Twitter) that fans were rejected entrance because the photo on the ID didn't match their face. They were forced to take off their glasses and were told, 'You don't look like your photo.' This is insane."
"I went to another JYP artist's concert last weekend, and none of this happened. Is this an issue with only this artist? DAY6 might be popular, but this kind of mess seems to be unique to them."
