On the morning of July 23, a press conference was held at the Two IFC building in Yeouido, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul for the new variety show 'Choo Sung Hoon Earns His Meals.'
The event was attended by Choo Sung Hoon, Kwaktube, Lee Eun Ji, and producers Song Joon Seob and Ahn Jae Min, who discussed the show’s concept and production.
The show follows Choo Sung Hoon as he takes on extreme jobs around the world, earning his meals through hard work and sweat in a close-up, real survival travel experience.
When asked about his family’s reaction to starring in a show named after him, Choo replied honestly, “There wasn’t really any reaction. I didn’t talk about it much. They probably wouldn’t understand anyway. I just said I’d be going abroad.” His candidness brought laughter from attendees.
Choo also shared the pressure he felt early on: “Honestly, on the first and second days, I told the producer this wasn’t really for me. It felt too much to carry my name on the show. I didn’t know what I was supposed to show or how to lead. I even asked if we could just call it ‘Earns His Meals’ without my name.”
The producer reassured him, saying the footage was already very entertaining and the other cast members were supportive. “He told me not to worry and that it would definitely turn out well. So I trusted him and decided to do my best. I didn’t start with a big sense of responsibility, but just took it day by day.”
Wrapping up the press conference with a light-hearted note, Choo said, “My daughter Sarang is living abroad, and honestly, it costs a lot of money. I have to work hard to earn enough to give her allowance. Please give us lots of support.”
'Choo Sung Hoon Earns His Meals' premieres on July 26 at 7:50 PM KST.
