Singer Jay Park has recently obtained legal permission to identify a cyber wrecker YouTube channel owner for spreading false rumors about him.
Previously on June 30 KST, the United States District Court for the Northern District of California approved of the request filed by Jay Park to obtain identifying information about an anonymous YouTuber through Google. The court legally recognized that the information would prove pivotal in determining the defendant either guilty or not guilty of spreading false rumors.
Jay Park began pursuing legal action against the YouTube channel 'Bburing Office' in December of last year, demanding over 30 million KRW in damages for spreading rumors such as: ▲ Jay Park colluded with the Chinese triad to distribute illegal drugs to the South Korean hip-hop community, ▲ Jay Park is affiliated with American gangs, and ▲ Jay Park engaged in abuse against minors in the past.
With the court's approval, Jay Park will be able to identify the defendant with information including the YouTube channel owner's name, birthday, gender, phone number, and more. The defendant, on the other hand, may appeal the court's order or file for a revision.
