Singer Ben is now involved in a legal dispute with her former agency Major9, seeking approximately 700 million KRW (~500,000 USD) in unpaid contractual earnings.
The first hearing for the lawsuit filed by Ben against Major9 is scheduled to take place at the Seoul Central District Court on July 23rd KST.
Ben parted ways with the agency in January 2023 after her exclusive contract expired. She did not renew the contract and later became entangled in a dispute over profit distribution from her past releases.
Ben demanded settlement of future profits from songs and albums released during her contract period, but Major9 reportedly refused to comply.
Back in 2023, the court initially recommended mediation, but by November, the attempt at an agreement had failed, leading to a formal trial.
Ben had been with The Vibe Entertainment and Major9, both associated with the group Vibe, and gained popularity through hits like “180 Degrees” and “Love, ing.”
Meanwhile, Ben finalized her divorce in December 2023 from Lee Wook, chairman of the W Foundation, after three years of marriage. She recently appeared on TV Chosun’s “Now I’m Alone”, where she opened up about life as a single mother.
