Red Velvet’s Irene is featured on the cover of the June issue of ‘Cosmopolitan Korea’.

In the interview, Irene talks about her love for nature and her growth as an artist with her latest comeback with the Red Velvet sub-unit, Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi.
Irene expresses her love for Spring, as it is the season where new life begins and flowers bloom. Lately, she finds joy in nature, such as observing clouds while the sun sets, or noting when the moon is especially round. She reveals that she probably has the second-most photos of the sky, right after her own selfies. Showing a picture of an interesting plant, she is intrigued by the two-toned leaves that are half dark-green and half light-green. She also explains that her mood is easily affected by the seasons and the weather, revealing how attuned she is to the natural environment.
Irene also goes into detail about her latest comeback. Along with Red Velvet member Seulgi. Red Velvet – Irene & Seulgi is the group’s first sub-unit. They debuted with the EP ‘Monster’ in 2020, and recently released their second EP ‘Tilt’ on May 26, 2025. Following the fierce and successful “Monster,” Irene expresses that there were some concerns about presenting a different side in their next release. Irene notes that as a duo, there is a tendency to come across as “twins” and highlight the notion of “symmetry.” This second EP can be summarized by the term “tilt,” where rather than falling from tilting, the two find balance in each other’s support.
Having both released their individual solo music, Irene explains that the preparations for this comeback took longer. This is because they are more conscious about imbuing meaning into their work, rather than prioritizing the coolest end-product, so every step involved much deliberation and personal input. However, she also confirms that the performance and dance is still a focal point, and hopes that listeners will enjoy their work of labor.
