Actress Kim You Jung is the cover star of the July issue of Cosmopolitan Korea, exuding elegance and charm under the concept “A Tranquil Afternoon at a Mystical Summer Villa.”
Dressed in an elegant ivory vest set, a sleek cocktail dress, and flattering sunglasses, Kim You Jung showcased looks that are both luxurious and wearable, perfectly embodying the refined mood of a summer retreat. Immersing herself in the concept with a calm and composed demeanor, she displayed the professionalism of a seasoned actress in her 22nd year in the industry.
Following the photo shoot, Kim You Jung shared her thoughts in an interview. “It was really enjoyable shooting in nature. Among today’s outfits, I especially liked the green look—it matched the weather beautifully,” she said, reflecting on the shoot.
After wrapping up the drama 'My Demon', this was her first time in front of a pictorial camera in a while. “I recently finished filming my next drama 'Dear X', so I’m currently enjoying some downtime—traveling here and there, getting fresh air, and relaxing at home.”
Kim You Jung is set to return to the screen with the upcoming TVING original series 'Dear X'. Based on a popular webtoon, the romantic thriller tells the story of a woman who wears a mask to survive and a man determined to save her. Kim You Jung will play Baek Ah Jin, a top actress hiding behind a façade.
Asked about her decision to take on the role, she shared, “I’d heard the webtoon was popular and fun, but honestly, I was hesitant at first. The role of Baek Ah Jin felt intimidating. But after speaking with the director, I found the courage. He explained in detail why I was the right fit for this role. While the script and character are important, the people you work with are just as crucial. I trusted him and felt this could be a rewarding experience, which led me to accept the role.”
Marking her 22nd year since debut, Kim reflected on what she’s learned: “I try to stay true to what makes me feel free and comfortable. When I find myself trying to control or suppress something, I consciously break out of that mindset. That approach applies to both acting and my everyday life. It’s important not to feel trapped.”
When asked about the moments when she feels most fearless, echoing Cosmopolitan’s slogan “Fun Fearless Female,” she responded, “It’s when I’m dreaming. That’s when I feel the most inspired—flying, defeating villains. The day after a good dream, I feel brave, like I can do anything.”
