Forestella's Go Woo Rim opened up about his love story with his wife, figure skating legend Kim Yuna.
On the June 18 episode of MBC’s variety show 'Radio Star,' Go Woo Rim appeared as a guest and shared how their relationship began and eventually led to marriage.
According to Go Woo Rim, the couple first met in 2018, when Kim Yuna invited Forestella to perform at her ice show.
After the performance, Kim Yuna visited the group’s dressing room to receive a signed CD, and that was the first time they met in person.
Later, Kim Yuna expressed her gratitude by inviting the group’s leader, Mingyu, out for a meal. When she learned that it happened to be Go Woo Rim’s birthday that day, she sent him a birthday message, which became the start of their relationship.
Go Woo Rim shared, “Even before we officially started dating, I felt emotionally stable around her,” and added, “I thought, ‘Maybe I could marry someone like her.’” He recalled telling Kim Yuna during the early days of their relationship, “Our connection doesn’t feel like a blazing campfire or a tiny match flame, it feels like the gentle, steady glow of a beautiful candle,” expressing his desire for something long-lasting.
He also candidly spoke about the challenges of maintaining the relationship before his military enlistment.
At the time of their courtship, Go Woo Rim was 24 years old and had not yet served in the military. Still, he openly told Kim Yuna that he wanted to pursue their relationship with marriage in mind.
He recalled Kim Yuna’s supportive response, saying, “Military service? If we’re going to continue dating, a year and a half isn’t a big deal. Go ahead and serve. I can wait.” She even thanked him for bringing up the topic of marriage first.
Go Woo Rim eventually enlisted in the Army Band in November 2023, about a year after their wedding.
He shared a funny moment from his service and shared, “When ‘Kim Yuna’ appeared on the visitor list, the entire base went wild."
A graduate of Seoul National University’s vocal music program, Go Woo Rim married Kim Yuna in October 2022. Forestella is now gearing up for their 2025 national concert tour, 'THE WAVE,' which will kick off in Seoul (July 26–27), followed by Busan (August 9–10) and Daegu (August 23–24).
