The Netflix series 'Squid Game Season 3' is set to end with a spectacular finale later this month.
On June 4, director Hwang Dong Hyuk unveiled behind-the-scenes stills and images of the VIP room set from Season 3. The final season will depict the ultimate fate of Gi Hun (played by Lee Jung Jae), the Front Man (played by Lee Byung Hun), and the surviving players of the deadly games.
'Squid Game' made its groundbreaking debut in 2021 with a unique and haunting universe that posed questions about human nature, leaving a profound global impact. After a three-year hiatus, the show returned with Season 2 in December last year.
Season 3 promises an even broader scope. Director Hwang teased, “Season 3 will be darker and more brutal than Season 2, but also quite ingenious and humorous.”

Regarding the iconic game sets, he explained, “I wanted to portray the contrast between the nostalgic feeling of childhood and the bleak realities, moral dilemmas, and cruel fates the characters face.”
He also shared the core message of the series: “I wanted to raise a fundamental question: do we possess humanity, and if so, does it have the power to make the world a better place?”
The behind-the-scenes stills also revealed the newly designed VIP room, showcasing an upgraded and more colorful scale. Unlike previous seasons, the VIP room this time features bright white marble.

Art director Chae Kyung Sun explained, “Unlike the fiery Gi Hun, the Front Man is cold and calculating like ice. We expressed this contrast through the use of white marble to highlight their stark differences.”
Even the VIPs’ dining area has been reimagined. “We designed the table in a hexagonal shape. It's a very strong geometric form with an oracle-like symbolism that we wanted to convey,” she said.
She continued, “I think the embodiment of evil, encompassing cruelty and violence, is poison. So we incorporated poisonous plants into the design and used a variety of colors to decorate the VIP room.”

Chae Kyung Sun added, “While Season 1 used the imagery of a meadow to depict a survival-of-the-fittest world, Season 3 utilizes flashy yet dangerous poisonous plants, creating a bold and striking design.”
'Squid Game Season 3' will be released on Netflix on June 27.
