Disney+ announced on June 10 that acclaimed actors Park Bo Young and Kim Sung Cheol will headline its upcoming original Korean series, 'GoldLand,' set to premiere next year.
'GoldLand' follows the gripping story of a woman who unintentionally comes into possession of gold bars smuggled by a criminal syndicate. As greed and betrayal erupt among those desperate to claim the fortune, she is pulled into a high-stakes battle to keep the gold for herself.
Park Bo Young will play the lead role of Kim Hee Joo, a security screener at an international airport who becomes entangled in an illegal gold smuggling scheme. Kim Sung Cheol takes on the role of Jang Wook, a low-ranking employee at a loan shark company who, upon discovering Hee Joo's secret, deliberately approaches her with ulterior motives.
The supporting cast includes Lee Hyun Wook as Lee Do Kyung, a co-pilot and Hee Joo’s boyfriend, and Kim Hee Won as Detective Kim Jin Man of the violent crimes unit. Moon Jeong Hee portrays Yeo Sun Ok, Hee Joo’s mother, while Lee Kwang Soo plays Director Park, who oversees a casino’s underground operations at the eponymous hotel, 'GoldLand.'
The series brings together top creative talents: director Kim Sung Hoon, known for 'Confidential Assignment' and 'Rampant,' and screenwriter Hwang Jo Yoon, the mind behind 'Memoir of a Murderer,' 'Masquerade,' and 'Oldboy.'
'GoldLand' is expected to deliver a tense, character-driven thriller packed with suspense, moral dilemmas, and unpredictable twists.
