Kim Taehyung, aka V of BTS, received a heartwarming surprise on his final day of military service in Chuncheon.
On June 10, Taehyung was officially discharged from the military after completing his 18-month term. He reunited with fellow BTS member RM at a local sports park, where they greeted the press and shared their thoughts on completing their service.
To celebrate this significant milestone, fans organized the stunning “V Road” — a path lined with purple ribbons and heartfelt banners — near Taehyung’s military base in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do.
Embracing the meaning of “Borahae or I Purple You,” the word Taehyung coined to symbolize everlasting love between BTS and ARMY, the streets were decorated with vibrant purple ribbons and 130 banners containing touching messages from fans around the world.
The displays and banners featured messages of love and pride, such as:
"After 548 days, we finally meet again." "Taehyung, we’ll always be behind you!" "You worked hard, Taehyung. Congratulations on your discharge." "Taehyung, let’s never part again." "Always supporting you, Borahae." "Every day with Taehyung is a happy one!"
In addition to the "V ROAD," balloons carrying a large banner poster of Taehyung and his late pet dog Yeontan was also spotted floating right above his military base.
The massive “V Road” project was a collaborative effort between global and Korean fanbases, resulting in a total of 130 banners displayed around the area.
'BTS V Union' and 'V INSIDE' collaborated and organized 100 streetlamp banners and 8 additional banners placed near Taehyung’s SDT (Special Duty Team) barracks.
Meanwhile, 'China Baidu Vbar' contributed 10 large banners at the entrance of the military base, and 'KTH_Supporters' arranged 13 banners and coordinated the installation of purple ribbons carrying fan messages around the perimeter.
