Singer Lee Chae Yeon has caught attention for skillfully preventing any political color controversy by sharing a photo of her participation in early voting for the 21st presidential election.
On May 29, Lee Chae Yeon posted on her social media, “It’s early voting day. You can vote anywhere regardless of your residence,” along with two photos.
One photo shows her hand with the early voting stamp on the back, while the other captures Lee Chae Yeon in casual attire. She wears a brown cap, a white shirt, black training pants, and a blue wrist brace.
Notably, she explained, “I can’t change the wrist brace, so I neutralize it with cherry tomatoes,” while holding a plastic container of red cherry tomatoes in her left hand.
This clever move preemptively blocked any political color controversy often sparked by early voting photos shared by celebrities. By showing both the blue wrist brace and the red cherry tomatoes together, she effectively avoided misunderstandings about endorsing a specific political color.
Recently, there have been several cases in the entertainment industry where colors, numbers, or hand gestures in voting photos or daily pictures were misinterpreted as political endorsements, causing controversy. Earlier, artists like aespa’s Karina and rapper Beenzino faced similar political color debates over their outfit colors, numbers, or emoji use.
Meanwhile, early voting for the 21st presidential election is taking place nationwide over two days starting May 29, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 3,568 early voting stations. Voters can cast their ballots at any nearby early voting location without prior registration.
Lee Chae Yeon debuted in 2018 as a member of the project group IZ*ONE and is currently active as a solo artist. She recently also appeared in the drama 'Let’s Dance.'
