Actress Jung Ga Eun has shared her personal story of financial hardship and revealed that she is now pursuing a new career as a taxi driver, a decision she believes could be more profitable than working for a major company.

In a recent video on her YouTube channel Wonder Ka Eun, she showed herself preparing for the taxi license exam. At the testing center, she was seen greeting traffic-focused YouTuber Park Rae Ho, telling him that she had studied a lot for the test.
During a mock exam, Park was impressed by how well she answered the sample questions, although he warned her not to aim for a perfect score, saying, “No one has ever scored 100.” Still, Jung showed genuine curiosity by asking thoughtful questions about the material she found confusing and expressed her strong determination to pass. “I’m confident I’ll pass. I want to score over 90,” she said with a smile.
In a previous video, she spoke about her personal motivation for taking this step. “My father worked as a private taxi driver for over 30 years and raised me with that job,” she shared. “He recently had surgery for esophageal cancer and hasn’t been well. I want to invite him as my first passenger once I pass.” She also added that, through her research, she discovered that with hard work, it is possible to earn around 10 million KRW per month. “These days, even major companies don’t pay that much. If you put in the effort, this can be a really good job,” she said.

Jung Ga Eun began her career as a model in 1997 and gained wider attention in 2001 after being named a runner-up in the Miss Korea Gyeongnam competition. She entered the entertainment industry soon after. In 2016, she married a businessman and gave birth to a daughter. However, in 2018, she announced her divorce.
It was later revealed that her ex-husband had committed 660 cases of fraud using Jung’s name, reportedly stealing around 13.2 billion KRW (approximately $9.7 million). Even before their marriage, he had a history of fraud and had previously been punished for using others’ bank accounts in scams.
During their marriage, he took over 100 million KRW (about $71,800) from Jung under the pretense of business investments and tax payments. Since their divorce, he has failed to pay any living expenses or child support and has been living abroad for five years while evading legal consequences.
In an earlier television appearance, Jung spoke candidly about the emotional toll of these experiences. “After filming a movie, I didn’t get any more work. Looking at my bank account, I just felt lost,” she said. “Before, not having money used to terrify me. But now I just think, ‘I’ll live within my means.’ Things are still uncertain, but I’m doing my best to keep going. Raising my child has made me stronger.”
