ASTRO has issued a strong statement in response to the malicious comments that emerged following the release of their tribute song for the late Moonbin.
On April 23, ASTRO’s agency Fantagio stated, “Malicious slander and rumors that defame the reputation of ASTRO are spreading recklessly online,” adding, “While we had been monitoring the situation cautiously, we can no longer tolerate the repeated malicious actions and are preparing to take legal action without leniency.”
The agency emphasized that spreading false information and posting defamatory content under the guise of anonymity are clear violations of the law and that they are continuing to collect evidence. They also noted that tips from fans have been greatly helpful in this process and are being received via email.
They reiterated, “We will continue to respond strongly to any actions that infringe on ASTRO’s rights and interests.”
ASTRO debuted in 2016 and has released several songs, including “Hide & Seek” and “Crazy Sexy Cool.” In April of last year, member Moonbin tragically passed away at the age of 25, leaving many in shock.
To mark the second anniversary of Moonbin’s passing, ASTRO recently released the tribute song “Memory of the Moon”. All proceeds from the song will be donated. The project featured participation from 22 fellow artists, including Moon Sua, VIVIZ, Monsta X, Seventeen, and SF9.
However, some have raised concerns that the tribute may be a commercial exploitation of the late artist, which has led to a wave of malicious comments. In response, fans launched a truck protest, demanding legal action against the perpetrators.
