ADOR has released an official statement regarding NJZ(NewJeans)' recent announcement about suspending their activities.
On the 24th, ADOR stated, “We are deeply disappointed by the decision to proceed with a performance under a name other than NewJeans, despite the court's ruling, and by the unilateral announcement of their suspension of activities.”
They added, “ADOR is committed to doing its best for NewJeans under the valid exclusive contract, and we hope to meet with the artists soon to discuss the future.”
Previously, on the 23rd (local time), NewJeans performed as headliners at ComplexCon in Hong Kong. At the end of their performance, the group told fans, “In fact, today's performance might be our last for a while,” and added, “We have decided to suspend all activities in compliance with the court’s ruling. This was not an easy decision, but it is necessary for us at this time.”
On the 21st, the Seoul Central District Court’s Civil Division 50 ruled in favor of ADOR, accepting its injunction request for “the preservation of agency status and the prohibition of signing advertising contracts” against the five members of NewJeans.
In response, ADOR stated, “We deeply appreciate the wise judgment of the court. With the legal confirmation of ADOR’s status as NewJeans’ agency, we will take full responsibility in supporting the artists moving forward.”
