IU apologizes to IVE for canceled recording on 'IU's Palette'.
On January 20th KST, IU’s YouTube channel “IU Official” uploaded a new episode titled ”[Palette] With the ‘I’ family (With IVE) Ep.31”. The episode featured IU and the rising K-pop group IVE, marking their first official interaction despite both using the same salon.
IU shared a backstory about the long-awaited collaboration, revealing,
“I wanted to invite IVE to Palette much earlier. It was planned, but I need to apologize deeply.” IU then bowed 90 degrees to the IVE members, explaining that she had to cancel the initial recording due to a high fever.
“It was the first time I ever had to cancel a Palette recording,” IU recalled. “I woke up that day and immediately knew something was wrong. My fever was too high, so I had to go to the hospital and cancel. I felt so sorry.”
IU recounted an elevator encounter with IVE member Liz:
“I saw Liz in the elevator and approached her, saying, ‘Excuse me, I’m IU. I’m so sorry for what happened. Please let the other IVE members know as well.’ That moment was probably my biggest regret of 2024.” Liz, reflecting on the moment, said, “I was so surprised and flustered.”
Despite IU’s heartfelt apology, the IVE members reassured her. Wonyoung shared, “We were only concerned about you getting better. That was all we thought about.” The other members also shook their heads, insisting it was no problem at all.
IU humorously promised, “Since IVE took time out of their busy schedule to be here, I’ll make up for my mistake by doing my best to make you all shine as brightly as possible today.”
The episode showcased IU’s humility and thoughtfulness, while IVE’s grace and professionalism highlighted their charm as juniors in the K-pop industry. Fans were left touched by their warm interaction, proving why both IU and IVE remain beloved in the industry.
