BABYMONSTER's Ahyeon has been at the center of an online discussion as fans have noticed the idol visibly holding back during performances.
According to one fan, who shared their concern for the idol in a popular online community, Ahyeon had toned down her intensity during performances after receiving criticism from some international solo stan fans.
The Korean netizen shared, "Since she was criticized by some akgaes (extreme solo stans) and international fans for dancing too energetically, she's been holding back and dancing with less intensity. Please, it's okay if it’s a bit much; just go back to how you used to dance. Even the international fans, who usually only leave positive comments, are now subtly telling her by leaving comments like, 'Hang in there, Ahyeon!'"
Although this fan was concerned that Ahyeon was not exerting enough effort and energy into her choreography, Korean netizens were divided as many thought her current energy level was perfect. They commented:
"I didn't really think much after seeing the performance video, but I think she's better now."
"Why is there no middle ground for her?"
"I think in Ahyeon's perspective, she would feel like 'What do you want me to do?'"
"Ahyeon would be so baffled. If she's energetic, people say things, when she tones down, people still say things."
"A few months ago people were saying things because she was too excessive, now that she is holding back her energy, people are saying she's careless. She must be so stressed."
"She's only 17. People tell her to not be overly energetic so she toned down, now they're saying why is she being so energyless."
"Just leave her alone."
"I think it was a reasonable feedback. I think she would gain more popularity if she balances her energy."
"Why can't people leave Ahyeon alone?"
"She did tone down too much. Now she looks like she doesn't care."
"People are going to complain no matter what she does."
"I think she is pretty good now. How was she like before?"
