ILLIT revealed that they were able to perfect their new song with the help of valuable advice from HYBE Chairman Bang Si Hyuk.
On October 21, ILLIT held a media showcase at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their second mini-album, 'I'LL LIKE YOU.'
'I'LL LIKE YOU' tells the story of a girl who gets deeply caught up in the moment after meeting someone she wants to grow closer to. While she faces moments of doubt, she ultimately decides to trust her feelings and boldly pursue her affection. The album features five tracks, including the title song "Cherish (My Love)," "I'll Like You," "IYKYK (If You Know You Know)," "Pimple," and "Tick-Tack."
Following their debut album, Bang Si Hyuk once again contributed as a producer on most of the tracks, including the title song.
Wonhee expressed her gratitude, saying, "Chairman Bang Si Hyuk gave us detailed advice on how to express the song, including choreography and facial expressions. Thanks to his guidance, the song feels more polished and complete."
The title track, "Cherish," showcases ILLIT’s bold and honest charm. The dance-pop song, with its addictive chorus and the members' unique vocal tones, speaks about valuing one's own emotions more than curiosity about the other person’s feelings. It captures the teenage mindset of feeling fulfilled simply by liking someone.
ILLIT previously made headlines with their debut song "Magnetic," becoming the first K-pop group to debut on both the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Top 100. They also achieved 400 million streams on Spotify in record time for a K-pop debut.
Wonhee shared with a smile, "We didn’t approach this song expecting the same massive success as 'Magnetic,' but if we do manage to chart on Billboard again, I’d be thrilled beyond words."
ILLIT’s second mini-album, "I'LL LIKE YOU," was officially released on October 21 at 6 PM.
