EXID Hani resumes official activities after postponing wedding due to fiancé Yang Jae Woong’s controversy.
EXID’s Hani is set to return to official activities after postponing her wedding following the death of a patient at her fiancé, psychiatrist Yang Jae Woong’s, hospital. This marks her first public appearance in approximately two months.
Hani, along with her EXID members, will perform at the ‘BIG GROUND FEST 2024’ on November 16th KST at the Beach City International Stadium in Ancol, North Indonesia. This will be her first stage performance following the controversy surrounding her fiancé and the postponement of their wedding. EXO members Chen and Xiumin will also be present at the event.
Yang Jae Woong has been embroiled in controversy after a 30-year-old female patient, admitted for diet pill addiction treatment, tragically passed away after 17 days in the hospital. Although Yang issued a formal apology two months after the incident, it sparked further public outrage due to the delay. The family of the deceased has filed a lawsuit, and the police have launched an investigation into the hospital.
As a result, Hani faced significant backlash, with critics questioning her knowledge of the incident, especially since the couple announced their engagement just four days after the patient’s death. Hani has remained silent on the matter, refraining from issuing any public statements.
The controversy also impacted her career. Hani voluntarily stepped down from the JTBC4 variety show ‘Review 4 Cut,’ leading to the exit of other cast members as well. Additionally, Hani was unable to celebrate the 12th anniversary of her debut with EXID due to the ongoing situation.
Despite the challenges, Hani and Yang Jae Woong’s relationship remains strong, with the couple maintaining their social media presence and emphasizing that the wedding is postponed, not canceled.
Yang Jae Woong is scheduled to attend the National Assembly’s Health and Welfare Committee hearing on October 23rd as a witness, where he will be questioned regarding the incident and the hospital’s practices.
