Chef Jeong Ji Seon shared about her experience of appearing on 'Culinary Class Wars.'
On October 21, Chef Jeong Ji Seon appeared on KBS Cool FM’s 'Park Myung Soo’s Radio Show' and reflected on her time on 'Culinary Class Wars.' She shared, "Since my appearance on the show, many more people recognize me, especially foreign customers," noting that her Hongdae restaurant has been bustling with visitors from Taiwan and Hong Kong. "It’s fascinating to see," she added.
Regarding her decision to appear on the show, Chef Jeong Ji Seon explained, "At first, I declined because the timing didn’t work out, but as time went on, I became interested and thought it could also motivate my staff, so I decided to participate." She recalled that the team missions were the most challenging, regretting moments when she either forgot seasoning due to nervousness or became overly ambitious during the cooking process.
She also mentioned attempting dishes she wouldn’t normally make and expressed her frustration with the blind-tasting format, though she was relieved that her food was ultimately recognized for its taste.
Jeong Ji Seon shared a story about Baek Jong Won, who visited her restaurant and ordered many dishes. "He complimented the food but jokingly commented, ‘Isn’t the menu a bit too ahead of its time?’" she said with a laugh.
When asked about her appearance fee, Jeong Ji Seon revealed, "Many people are curious about the payment for 'Culinary Class Wars.' It was at normal pay." When Park Myung Soo asked if it was around 1-2 million KRW (726 USD~1,452 USD) per episode, she candidly replied, "Not even that much." She added that the cast members did not ask each other about their appearance fees.
Since appearing on the show, Jeong Ji Seon noted a significant increase in business, with reservations tripling. She is considering expanding her restaurant but mentioned the difficulty in hiring staff, saying, "We plan to open an additional location once we can recruit more employees."
