Kim Min-hee, who recently won the Best Actress Award at the Locarno Film Festival for her role in Hong Sang-soo’s film “In Our Day,” has garnered attention not only for her win but also for her fashion choice at the awards ceremony.
According to the film's international distributor, Finecut, on August 20, the film “In Our Day,” directed by Hong Sang-soo and starring Kim Min-hee—who also served as the film's production manager—won the Best Actress Award in the international competition section of the 77th Locarno Film Festival.
This marks the fourth time a Hong Sang-soo film has been officially invited to the Locarno Film Festival, following “Our Sunhi” (2013, Best Director), “Right Now, Wrong Then” (2015, Golden Leopard for Best Film and Best Actor for Jung Jae-young), and “Hotel by the River” (2018, Best Actor for Ki Joo-bong).
Kim Min-hee previously won the Best Actress Award at the Berlin International Film Festival in 2017 for her role in Hong Sang-soo's “On the Beach at Night Alone.” Her win at Locarno marks another major achievement on the international stage.
The Locarno Film Festival jury praised her performance, stating, "It takes delicacy, patience, and the courage of restraint. In Hong Sang-soo’s deeply moving film ‘In Our Day,’ this actress achieved all of this and much more, leaving the jury in awe. We are delighted to award the Best Actress Award to Kim Min-hee."
Attending the awards ceremony with Director Hong Sang-soo, Kim Min-hee chose to wear a pristine white silk dress, capturing everyone's attention. The dress, from a well-known luxury brand's 2018 S/S collection, is one she has been known to favor. Despite being a six-year-old piece, Kim Min-hee's ability to wear it so stylishly reinforces her status as an original fashion icon.
“In Our Day” is set to be released in South Korea in September.
