SM Entertainment has provided an update on its efforts to address criminal activities stemming from malicious comments directed at BoA.

Through diligent monitoring on platforms, SM has been gathering evidence of severe offenses such as spreading false information, defamation, derogatory remarks about BoA's appearance, and sexual harassment. With the assistance of legal representation from the law firm Sejong, SM has filed complaints against individuals responsible for insults and other related offenses, urging swift cooperation in the investigative process.

The defendants primarily originate from online community sites and bulletin boards. SM has identified numerous instances of malicious posts and comments targeting BoA on these platforms, prompting legal action against the offenders.

SM has observed similar misconduct across various online communities and even on the Cyber Wrecker channel on YouTube. False information, slander, and sexual harassment against BoA have been rampant, leading to the preparation of robust legal responses to address these issues.

Addressing challenges posed by global social media platforms headquartered overseas, SM is exploring avenues for investigative cooperation and potential legal action abroad, especially for incidents that occurred last year where local investigations were hindered due to jurisdictional constraints.

Previously, SM announced its intention to pursue legal action both domestically and internationally against those responsible for spreading false information and malicious attacks against BoA on various social media platforms and online communities. The company reaffirmed its commitment to identifying and filing complaints against individuals continuing to engage in such misconduct, emphasizing the importance of holding offenders accountable under the law.

Lastly, SM assured that it remains vigilant against illegal activities targeting all its artists and will continue to address such cases in consultation with the affected artists, filing complaints when deemed necessary to uphold their rights and well-being.
