The upcoming 'Dae Jang Geum' series starring Lee Young Ae will be taking a new direction.
Ever since reports revealed the new historical drama 'Uinyeo Dae Jang Geum' will star Lee Young Ae, fans and K-drama viewers have been wondering if the actress will reprise her role from the 2003 hit MBC drama 'Jewel in the Palace'. On February 5, Fantagio confirmed the new series will take a completely different direction.
The label stated, "It's true 'Uinyeo Dae Jang Geum' is completely different and unrelated to 'Jewel in the Palace'. It's a new fiction based on historical figure Dae Jang Geum and her history, and it does not feature the return of the character from the previous drama," adding, "After signing with the writing team, the project is still in its development stage. No decisions have been made as of now."
