Shinhwa's Hyesung sentenced to 1 year of probation for possession of a stolen vehicle + refusing breathalyzer test

AKP STAFF

On the afternoon of April 20 KST, Shinhwa member Hyesung (Jung Pil Kyo) appeared at Seoul Eastern District Court, where a verdict hearing was held for the singer's charges including the possession and use of a stolen vehicle, and the refusal of a breathalyzer test upon apprehension by police.

On this day, the court sentenced Hyesung to 6 months in prison, deferred for a probationary period of 1 year. The court's verdict found that while Hyesung admitted to all charges and all evidence presented found the defendant guilty, the evidence also indicated that there was no reported damage, and that the owner of the stolen vehicle asked for the defendant to avoid punishment.

Meanwhile, Hyesung was apprehended by police in October of 2022 after being found sleeping in a vehicle, parked in the middle of a road. During the police's initial investigation, they found that Hyesung was in possession of a vehicle reported as stolen by its owner. In 2007, the Shinhwa member was also charged with driving under the influence.

Allkpop should have explained he didn't intentionally steal a car: The place he was drinking at has valet parking, but late at night they just leave the keys and everyone is supposed to collect their own car. This drunk idiot got the wrong one. Korea is pretty lenient to drunk idiots

He got off light. Please get a friend or hire a designated driver to drive you home the next time you drink alcohol!
