A few days ago, Jin's first single album was released on various music platforms. It is called 'The Astronaut,' and Jin wrote the song together with Coldplay. In particular, at first, Jin wrote the Korean lyrics for the first part, but Chris Martin liked Jin's lyrics so much that he suggested the singer write the rest as well. Jin received the guide for this song and played a big part in composing and producing it. For example, he said that he decided to add Korean motives to the melody. Huge producers like Max Martin and Kygo worked together with Coldplay and Jin. The idea of 'The Astronaut' concept belongs to the artist himself.

The song is written in the pop-rock genre and received a huge positive reaction. 'The Astronaut' performed exceptionally well on the global and local charts. It even made the biggest Spotify debut for a solo song in K-pop history. 

Music critic Kim Do Heon also posted his short review of 'The Astronaut' on his Twitter account. He is a member of the KMA committee in Korea and a well-known critic. Here is his review of the solo single by Jin:

'It is the most impressive song among the solo activities of BTS members this year. Jin's voice is very powerful as he sings the themes that remind you of 'Moon' and 'Mikrokosmos.' With the participation of Kygo and Max Martin, the sound quality came out excellent. Meanwhile, the sound of Coldplay in the melody is lively with a new voice.'

It is not the first time that Kim Do Heon from the KMA committee has been impressed by Jin's voice and music. In 2021, at the live stream with Kim Danny, he added 'Epiphany' to the Top5 of The Best BTS songs. He elaborated on his choice, saying that Jin's voice showcased an exceptional performance on this track. 'A part of Jin's charisma is that 'Epiphany' was great from the first listen.' Kim Do Heon revealed that he, in fact, enjoys Jin's own music a lot, especially the song 'Abyss,' which Jin wrote when experiencing difficult times.

Besides being a KMA committee member, Kim Do Heon participated in Mnet's 'Legend 100' project and Melon Artist DB. As a music critic, he constantly writes columns in the music industry's media. 

He once featured Jin in the column for a popular Korean magazine, 'Cultura,' the November issue of 2021. 

'The columnist illustrates the originality that can only be discovered in Jin's voice. "Even for those who are not that familiar with BTS' music, Jin's voice at least comes familiar. "Jin's vocal register runs widely to such an effortless extent encompassing lyrical and soft voice to a beautiful falsetto as well as to a powerful head voice that it plays a solidly pivotal role regardless of any signing genre he chooses.", added Kim to highlight how essential Jin's vocal is to any BTS tracks. Furthermore, Kim goes on to comment that Jin shines brighter when he is off the stage as he never ceases to encourage and to make the other members happy like a true older brother to each of them, as opposed to acting serious and hierarchy-centric. Kim calls this approach of Jin a success momentum of the present BTS.'

Talking about Jin sounding even better when singing live, a great example is the recent performance of Jin at the Coldplay concert. He sang 'The Astronaut' flawlessly, accompanied by the live sound of the band. Jin's performance made it obvious why Chris Martin let the singer have the entire stage to himself and had him perform the entire track in front of a huge audience.
