Six Must-Watch Female-Centric Dramas of 2022

There's no greater delight than finding beautiful relationships portrayed in K-Dramas. Despite having completely different colors and different types of relationships, we cannot deny that it gives a lot of second-hand happiness and can even inspire other relationships to blossom. Things even get better when these relationships, usually non-romantic ones, are the highlights and the centerpieces of a drama.

Although not frequent, K-Dramas that highlight and focus on friendship, sisterhood, and even rivalries among women are truly a grace to watch. Over the years, dramas will always give you that perfect chemistry, not to mention the superb acting of the lead actresses that can definitely hook you into watching the drama. 

If you're looking for female-centric K-Dramas released this year, here are six K-dramas that you would definitely enjoy binge-watching!

"Thirty-Nine"

"Thirty-Nine" highlights the lives of three friends who are turning forty: Cha Mi Jo (Son Ye Jin), 39 years old, the director of Gangnam Dermatology Clinic; Jeong Chan Young (Jeon Mi Do), 39 years old, an acting teacher; and Jang Joo Hee (Kim Ji Hyun), 39 years old, a cosmetics manager at a department store. Despite their completely different attitudes, they got along really well, and these best friends leaned on each other during the best and the worst, standing together as they experienced life, love, and loss. You can also sympathize with each of them, even during the moments when their friendship faces challenges and resolve problems that can potentially strain their relationship. Bonus: It also shows the collective experience of being the third friend in an already-established friendship.

"Kill Heel"

This time, we have not friends, but competitive female rivals who are in front of the spotlight of the K-Drama, "Kill Heel." The series tells the story of the unending greed and the competitive struggle of three women who go against each other for the top spot at a home shopping network. Woo Hyun (Kim Ha Neul) is hardworking and the host of a home shopping show. However, an incident made her very determined to become the top show host at the UNI home shopping network. On the other hand, Mo Ran (Lee Hye Young) is UNI Home Shopping's vice president. Others consider her success story to be legendary as she began her job as an entry-level worker and ascended to an executive position. Lastly, Ok Seon (Kim Sung Ryung) has been a UNI home shopping star since birth. She was raised in a wealthy family. "Becoming Witch"

The K-Drama "Becoming Witch" narrates the story of the already-difficult lives of three women in their 40s that come to a breaking point as everything goes entirely off the rails. The first woman is a housewife Gong Ma Ri (Lee Yu Ri) enjoys a happy life with her husband and daughter. She looks for an alternative way to break and end her marriage as soon as she finds out that her husband is having an affair. The second woman is Chae Hee Soo (Lee Min Young) is a daughter-in-law of a chaebol family. She bears her husband's disregard for her, and she also has trouble becoming pregnant. One day, the mother-in-law she cares for makes her an enticing but horrifying offer. Lastly, Yang Jin A (Yoon So Yi) is a widow. Because of her husband's evil character, she can claim a sizable sum of money from his life insurance policy after his passing. With the money, she may live a life that is different from what she was used to, but she constantly worries that someone may steal her money.

"Green Mothers’ Club"

"Green Mothers' Club," tells the story of how five moms encounter each other at their kids' elementary school; they quickly become friends as they support one another through motherhood's challenges. Their relationship soon goes beyond camaraderie to become a genuine friendship throughout all of life's difficulties. The Green Mothers' Club consists of Lee Eun Pyo (Lee Yo Won), a highly educated mother who gets involved in all sorts of incidents, Byun Chun Hee (Choo Ja Hyun), the most powerful mother in terms of beauty content, Seo Jin Ha (Kim Gyu Ri), a mother with a foreign husband and a gifted son, Kim Young Mi (Jang Hye Jin), a mother who values ​​emotional connection with her child above everything, and Park Yun Joo (Joo Min Kyung), Eun Pyo's cousin who is a scoundrel who does nothing for education. 

"Cleaning Up"

"Cleaning Up" is a K-Drama that was a remake of a British show of the same title. The series tells the story of three cleaners at a financial institution: Eo Yong Mi (Yum Jung Ah), a hardworking mother who raises her daughters by herself; Ahn In Kyung (Jeon So Min), a woman who dreams of buying a food truck to run a mobile cafe business, and Maeng Soo Ja (Kim Jae Hwa), a very sociable person only to people when she needs them, resort to insider trading after unintentionally overhearing financial information to support their families and realize their goals. Aside from being bound by their goals to invest in the best possible outcome, they also became friends who were there for each other, even if they face familial, romantic, and financial problems. It also gets better as they find better lives together as their friendship grows deeper.

"Little Women"

The drama "Little Women" is loosely based on Louisa May Alcott's 1868 book of the same name. The show tells the story of three poor siblings who are close, their involvement in the investigation of the missing 70 billion won, and their courageous resistance to Korea's wealthiest family. The eldest sister, Oh In Ju (Kim Go Eun), learned early on that having money was the most crucial factor in protecting her family and herself because she was raised in an impoverished household. The middle sister, Oh In Kyung (Nam Ji Hyun), is a dedicated newscaster who, despite being underprivileged, fervently follows her morals. She now looks into a puzzling case she first encountered as a reporter. Oh In Hye (Park Ji Hu), the youngest sister, often believes that her sisters' love for her is excessive. She attends a prestigious art high school due to her innate sketching talent.
