Former iKON member B.I sentenced to a probationary period of 4 years, a fine of ~$1,300 USD, community service, & drug education

On the afternoon of September 10, the Seoul Central District Court made its sentencing decision regarding former iKON member B.I (Kim Han Bin, 25), on charges of illegal drug use. 

During this initial trial decision day, the court sentenced B.I to a probationary period of 4 years. If B.I commits any additional drug-related crimes within this probationary period, the court will have the authority to sentence him to at least 3 years in prison. 

In addition, B.I faces a fine of 1.5 million KRW (~ $1,300 USD), 80 hours of community service, as well as 40 hours of drug education courses. 

Regarding the decision, the court stated, "The defendant has admitted to all charges and has demonstrated reflection for his wrongdoing, and is a first-time defendant. The defendant's parents have also spoken before the court about their strong will to educate their son properly, and furthermore, the fact that the defendant has managed to maintain good interpersonal relationships with his family, acquaintances, and as a member of society works in his favor."

Previously, B.I belatedly faced investigation for purchasing the illegal drug marijuana from an acquaintance 'A' in April of 2016. He then admitted that he purchased the illegal drugs and took them over several occasions.
