Sunmi physical album release has fans confused

For fans of Sunmi, it's been a long wait since her past physical album. Warning released in September 2018 and the fandom have been thirsting for more. In some territories, the selling price on eBay of a used physical copy of Warning is up to four times higher than when it was factory new with the ever-increasing fandom size outweighing the available copies.

With her most recent digital-only release Tail recently crossing 33 Million YouTube views, in August 2021 Sunmi will finally have a new mass-market physical release. However, thanks to omissions in the promotional teaser material released widely to Kpop sales locations fans are confused if the physical album will include any music at all.

As noticed by users on Reddit, the physical album breakdown poster found now on ordering sites like KTown4U does not include any mention of a CD, not even the standard inclusion of how many pages of photos are in the photobook. However, KTown4U's own details write-up includes: "DISK: 1ea" with still no mention of photobook pages.

Such glaring omissions have fans speculating if a draft poster version was uploaded by mistake. Comparing online purchasing portals some do indeed mention in the small print the inclusion of a CD, while others have no mention at all. The suggestion that an old draft of contents is gaining traction with other fans starting to believe the opposite, instead of the disc existing, that it was originally planned however removed later in production.

The pending release of the tracklist is not expected to help casual buyers with their purchase decision. As it won't answer the existing questions of is there a physical disc with any music at all. While it would be natural to assume a CD is included (as it is in most albums), Weki Meki for example did release an album as promotional goods physically in two separate versions with no CD. So it is not unheard of. The addition of needing to buy the album digitally plus a physical purchase has fans waiting to see the developments.

If Abyss Company doesn't clarify the contents before the street date it is highly likely that a significant portion of casual Kpop purchasers will wait for YouTube unboxing videos from content creators to discover what's inside before purchase. Which is certain to impact the ever-important initial sales numbers.

if this happens to be true it will be very disappointing. It's bad enough that Abyss made the new membership available only through weverse despite the complaints about its service and their shipping costs. Now a three year wait for a physical album without an actual CD... Hope it isn't true but it isn't any consolation if they aren't paying enough attention and end up uploading a draft.
