BTS's j-hope on his dancing career, ARMY as a judge of their performances and changes of style according to "Butter" in a interview for Weverse Magazine

"There’s a sense of responsibility that comes along with such an honorable achievement," says Jung Hoseok (J-hope) while talking about "Butter" and the sensation that this song has been in the United States. He acknowledged ARMY and the hard work that the fandom has done to keep BTS at the top of the charts, for which he is incredibly thankful.

j-hope has a point of view in where he needs to find out what kind of attitude he should have during these days of glory and historical successes, just by breaking records on the Billboard charts. He also adds that he feels responsible for making the dances stand out, and after the success of "Dynamite," he has leveled up his practicing, and the time he used to give to them has increased as well. With his bandmates, they could create an atmosphere in where taking practice seriously has become extremely important. Practicing more than 10 hours during their years previous to "Dynamite," j-hope explains that each of the members already knows what are the things they need to improve. So they try to focus mainly on that so, after the hard work, they can take a break, which is crucial for any artist. In his own words, he admits that dancing is important, but so is the visual aspect: "The reason I change my hairstyle or whatnot so often these days is because I want my appearance to blend naturally with the song." A song that is set to be a little mature and sexy, j-hope talks about how he wanted to show that he has grown up for it, and so he started to figure a way to express himself by the looks, his dancing skills, and other ways, melting them all together, "smooth like butter."

When the interviewer asked about his mindset under the spotlight, j-hope shows himself extremely confident by saying that it is a time for him to shine bright and show what he has to give to the world. If by any instance, something might be wrong, then ARMY and the general public would be the judges, and he is willing to accept and correct whatever mistake he might make. Certainly, we can agree that j-hope knows his abilities, but he also thinks he can do a performance better and better with time; therefore, he takes pleasure in his effort. While sharing experiences with the members, he recalled Jin, how setting the mood in the background and not interfering with his part is an "extremely important part of a good performance." The interviewer then added a memory of SUGA coming forward to rap at the end of the song, and j-hope was tossing out little shouts. At this, j-hope admits it's fun doing so.

For "Permission To Dance," j-hope wanted to bring out his real self, more like how he tends to feel on stage, in order to show a natural version of how he deals with happiness and some tears on it. Perhaps, the most important part of the choreography in PTD was the movement with sign language, an action taken into deep admiration towards the public. Not only did the song invited everyone to dance, but it reinforced the importance of inclusion. "Even when we were practicing we were saying how we have to make sure the moves are perfectly accurate," he explained. To make the moves mix naturally with the sign language took them quite a lot of time. In order to keep himself in his own role, just like the other members, is what makes BTS work: to not stand out is a thing that j-hope is very careful of. He is known for being the "vitamins" of the group, the one who is always in charge of keeping the right vibe filled with energy. Sometimes, he admits to feeling pressure about the label, but he also recognizes the fact that, since he is able to contribute to the team, he ends up feeling a little more confident about the things he found difficult to express in the past. All these thoughts came to his mind after the release of his first mixtape, back in 2018: the way he wanted to express himself... By being himself. He worked really hard on letting go of all the pressure and started to show his real self in a smooth non-intensive way. When he was asked about his "Blue Side" solo released, he just answered that people's emotions changed every day, so it's important to accept that and continue with life. "I’m just another young person living his life on this planet. I’m not really different from anybody else".

"Dis-ease" was a starting point in his inner shadows and the thoughts that these gave to him, letting him write down emotions and even deeper ideas, being the second one the channel to create "Blue Side." j-hope explained how hard has pandemic hit the whole band and watching their old performances made him think about the life he has been living until that point. Gladly, Jung Hoseok could find his real self in this process, making him realized he is not always a cheery person, but someone who has experienced hardship before. He emphasizes the fact that he doesn't feel any resistance about who he is.

Being drunk is not always a good thing, but thanks to it, and even though j-hope wasn't drinking too much, he was able to come up with a beautiful and dark line: "Now I just want to burn blue to death," from his "Blue Side" solo. The experience of writing while being drunk is something he tends to regret, but at the same time, he can read the feelings he had while being in that state. So he is able to give his own self some kind of feedback: a version of himself being different from the way he was before making his music emerged.

Lately, he tries to challenge himself more and has started to study English as part of it, even though he might not be able to do it due to BTS's tight schedule. He definitely is not the kind of person to settle for the life as it is. His next dream and step in this field, is making BTS's music reach globally, mentioning the fact that the "environment to have a good synergy with foreign artists has already been built." His last words to his past self are not to "fix something," but rather to believe in himself and move on with his life, working hard. At the end of the interview, words aren't enough to explain the love and admiration he has for ARMY, calling them artists just as famous as BTS and thanking them deeply for the love and support they continue to give the guys.

j-hope is a lyrical genius, he’s very smart and the fact that he did his best to maintain the “bright” person in his songs while talking about his struggles to become who he is today or how far he came from like in ego with an upbeat beat but dark lyrics and many and daydream where the lyrics are pretty deep too. I’m really looking forward to what he has to give us, he mentioned a lot of his solo work but how he wants to try new things and honestly I can’t wait to see how he’s gonna approach these topics in his next mixtape
