Viewers say SMTOWN's free online concert was so worthwhile that they 'would have paid for it'

AKP STAFF

Viewers have greatly approved of SMTOWN's recent online concert.

On January 1 KST, SM Entertainment held an online concert titled 'Culture Humanity' featuring all their currently promoting label artists, collectively called SMTOWN. The concert, broadcast completely free of charge, received great approval as it featured high quality performances, visual effects, and a lengthy duration.

Each artist performed not only their usual hits but also special stages. Regarding this concert, CEO Lee Soo Man shared, "There is no wall when it comes to music. We can communicate without language barriers, to each other, and to ourselves, the kind of solace and healing. We and SM are trying to present that kind of music."

The concert was free, as it was dedicated to everyone around the world who are currently experiencing difficult times. Some viewer reactions include:

"I would have paid for this"

"This concert would have been worth my money..."

"Thank you very much, SM."

"I am so thankful that they made everything free. And the fact that I can re-watch it..."

"I was very honored and shocked that they would deliver such high quality stages for free in times like these"

"I wholeheartedly agree with this comment, that I probably would have paid for it."

"This concert made me want to pay for their next concert to attend in person, if that day every comes"

"When they said 5 hours I was almost scared but by the time I was into it, I was sad that it would be over"

"I loved the EDM part at the end!"
"I loved this concert even more than the 'Beyond' one"

"I usually don't like company-based concerts, but the way they executed the song 'Hope' at the end with their logo made me feel all warm inside. Good production"

"I was almost sorry that I hadn't paid"

This concert was worth every second of watching! I would've paid for a ticket, but it was such a generous act of SM to make the concert free, so Kpop fans around the world could watch. It was also nice to see OT5 Red Velvet again after nearly a year since Wendy's accident. Also, the SHINee comeback trailer literally made me legit sob. So proud to be an SM stan! 🥰

I thought they did a great job. It was a nice treat. 90s Love ended up being the last song I heard in 2020. I went to bed when the DJ part started, but it would have worked out well if I was having a NYE party. I wasn't expecting D&E and K.R.Y to get performances so that was nice too. I think my favorite stages were Better Days, UN Village with Mark Lee, TVXQ! being the absolute cutest with Dream, 5 member Psycho, and Burn the Floor (even if it was minus Heechul). The only bummer for the show is that you could tell in the stages Taeyong was in that he was already hurting and I know either filming one of the performances or rehearsal is where he reinjured his back. 😞
