Sulli opens up about why she left f(x) on 'Jinri Store' premiere

f(x), Sulli

Sulli opened up about why she left f(x) on the premiere of the 'Jinri Store'.

On the October 25th episode, Sulli was speaking with her manager when she revealed, "I think because I've been active since I was young, there haven't been many people who thought of me as young. There were a lot of scary moments. If they told me to do something, I would, and I didn't even know the reason why I had to."

She continued, "At a certain point, I started to wonder, 'Why do I have to do this?' I don't think it was a good fit for me," referring to her leave from f(x) in 2015

Sulli concluded, "I was scared and unsure of my future, so I think I tried to protect myself as much as possible. I was trying to protect myself, so there was a sense of urgency. There wasn't anybody to listen to me when I was going through a hard time. It felt like I was just left alone in the world."

I mean that's what happens when you enter that industry at such a young age. She has probably been over worked since she was in her teens and we all know kpop companies don't care about their artists, it's all cool as long as they perform. She probably got tired of being treated like a product.

It remembered me of that scene in the SM movie (I think it was called "I AM") where it shows f(x)'s pre debut practicing coreography for La cha ta, and Sulli appears crying a lot because of the overwork. She was just a kid back then and maybe she didn't know what she was going for.

.... There wasn't anybody to listen to me when I was going through a hard time. It felt like I was just left alone in the world...

it's pretty much the same thing krystal said around the time red light promotions halted, during jessica & krystal

The thing is, i think the members don't know how to comfort other members while they also exhausted by themselves. Vic as the leader may be too strong for baby like sulli or krystal, she has tough personality (she always says in the industry you have to be strong because you are alone, meaning she also struggle alone and i think at some point she wants her member to be strong and tough, which sadly that doesn't work. Cultural differences may play part here, cause many chinese members are more independent and tough, while korean love being in a group). Or maybe the members have done whatever they can to support but it is not go through sulli's heart, sulli's mental play part here, when you don't want to do something you hate, its useless even when people around you comfort you..

The way I see it... they tried but failed. Boa is also available for counselling regarding matters of this sort but I guess she also failed to keep Sulli in f(x) ... I would assume that Sulli may have really changed his goals and desires. I think leaving f(x) was the most optimal solution for both Sulli and f(x) because the more she stays with the group and do things she does not want... it would have ruin things for everyone. I see her move as something a mature person would do specially that she does not regret that decision.

That's the thing about success, you can get so caught up in it you don't even realise what you're doing isn't actually making you happy.

I always felt that f(x) were never close it was all for show and business, even up till today with current f(x) members the hiatus have made them all distant. SME screw up so bad with this band with so much potential during their times.

I think it's because each member's personality are so different, they even have different circles until now. And I don't think in the beginning they scouted to be idol, maybe only luna and amber which proven they indeed still singing until now. Vic was preparing to be actress, but at some point company make her to be idol even leader of a group, surprising her a lil bit. Sulli was child actress, SM suggest she became idol first to gain followers and expand to be actress from that. Krystal i suspect SM projected her to be actress as well, just like sulli.

In the end the members still got all they want, it's fans who are still salty with SM.... We just don't want accept the truth 😌

I do think companies need to pay more attention to their employees' well beings. Why do you think so many artists leave due to health reasons.

i agree with you, especially when the company or fans demand the artist/idol to do comeback more often for a year. the company or fans sometimes (often) forget that artists or idols are also human not just a robot, they need a vacation, need a break, need empty space to think about their choices or what to do next.

As far as the manner in which SULLI left as an F(X) Group member. Cutting SHORT her F(X) Group promotional activities was NOT so good. I agree with F(X) supporters who WISH that SULLI would have somehow 'gutted' through it longer. But it is done now. And decreasing from 5 members to 4 members, is still enough (4 members) for F(X) Group to keep going. Much as EXID Group has been able to function 'okay' with 4 members. For SULLI to remain in F(X) Group and NOT liking it much, would seem a mistake to me. Better to just exit in a bit more calm and planned a manner than what actually happened. BUT, at least it got done. Probably VICTORIA was thinking that IF SULLI was unhappy, time to leave as best you can do that. And, the reality is, MOST of the K-pop Idols do WISH that they could transition into Acting Roles work. The K-pop Fan 'demands' can get a bit ODD in my view. NOT everyone handles the 'up close' with the FANS that well. Apparently, SULLI just reached a 'no go' situation on that.

(There wasn't anybody to listen to me when I was going through a hard time. It felt like I was just left alone in the world.") THIS IS THE ONE THAT I MOST SCARED, WHEN SOMEONE THOUGHT THERE IS NO ONE AROUND THEM. . .IT CAN BE DEPRESSION. I'M GLAD SHE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE

"I think because I've been active since I was young, there haven't been many people who thought of me as young."

whatttttt?????? it's usually the opposite where people always think you're young because you debut too early and is stuck with that childish and innocent image

SULLI is personal friends with IU, HARA (KARA), GA-IN (Brown Eyed Girls), and probably others in K-Entertainment. So, I would observe that SULLI is NOT 'completely isolated' somehow on a personal basis. As to SULLI deciding to leave as a member of F(X) Group, that is a bit more confusing. In that F(X) Group was fairly successful. So, for SULLI to remain an F(X) member, meant some fairly decent MONEY INCOME that was certain for SULLI. BUT, almost ALL the K-pop Idols (Group members) do WISH that they could transition into ACTING ROLES work as SOON as possible. So, with SMe Agency, maybe SULLI figured that, as an F(X) member, she was NOT going to be 'pushed' as an ACTRESS by SMe Agency. Which, I think SULLI had that CORRECTLY figured about SMe Agency. Anyway, SULLI has this chance with this Reality TV Show "JINRI STORE" now. Which, that is a LOT more 'chance' (via SMe) than a LOT of aspiring ACTRESS do ever get it. So overall, SULLI has ALREADY done BETTER than a LOT who try for a K-Entertainment working situation.

As far as SMe Agency is concerned. SMe seems to be a work situation where their MANAGEMENT *expects* that their TALENT (like SULLI) will do what what they are asked, and create *minimal* 'friction' while doing that. IF some TALENT does that (meets expectations), THEN SMe Agency will KEEP them working. And earning fairly GOOD MONEY overall. But IF you create PROBLEMS for SMe Agency, that they don't need it, THEN you get REPLACED by some other (younger age) TALENT. And to some extent, ALL K-pop Agencies are that way. The established TALENT (SULLI) is always getting OLDER in AGE. AND there is ALWAYS some YOUNGER NEW TALENT available to REPLACE those that 'stumble' somehow. The K-Entertainment Business, in general, is a fairly 'cold' one. It is about the MONEY PROFITS, in the end.

Becouse your agency understand this industry better than you...in the end you do what you want to do and destroy the image sme created for you...as a result you became the beloved sulli to the most hated sulli...

I prefer having people hate me for what I am than love me for something I'm not. Being an idol is a extremely dedicated job that will make you miserable if you're not happy doing it :)
