JTBC releases an audio of The East Light being threatened by Media Line CEO Kim Chang Hwan

JTBC released an audio of Media Line Entertainment CEO Kim Chang Hwan.

On October 19, The East Light leader Lee Suk Chul held a press conference and revealed the members of The East Light have been violently abused by their agency CEO and producer.

Following the press conference, Lee Suk Chul met with JTBC's 'News Room' and shared, "It's not because we made a major mistake... When I miss a note or fail to keep up, he would wrap the guitar string around my neck and make it hard for me to breathe..."

Lee Suk Chul also claimed they have been threatened. JTBC shared an audio recording of Kim Chang Hwan they have obtained. The CEO is heard stating, "Once you put things into my hands, you just have to leave it even if I beat you to death... Imagine making it to the news (with abuse) as a celebrity. You guys wouldn't have anywhere to stand. And who would want to take the kids with issues? You shouldn't blow things up. You shouldn't. Your mom and dad will be in more pain. It'll be 10 times more painful."

Media Line Entertainment admits Kim Chang Hwan did get aggressive when talking with The East Light members from time to time, however, "It was to help them continue doing music."

Meanwhile, Kim Chang Hwan released a statement following Lee Suk Chul's press conference, and claimed, "I have never been part of any abuse or assault in the last 30 years. I've also never encouraged or provided orders to abuse anyone."

Even with the threatening and manipulating, I'm so glad The East Light leader had enough strength to come out with this AND WITH SOLID PROOF TOO. I hope that pathetic loser of a ceo gets a beating in jail.

Fuck him. The company too... saying "it was only to help the kids with their music", what a joke. Abuse doesn't do that; support does.

I wish more parents realized that, too.

This is a good time for other idol to come up because later will be even hard because those bastards will change their dirty strategies to hide even more and not get exposed.

He is brave for speaking up for himself and his group. Hope they get all the support they need to heal. And hope those devils get punished.

Well, he is a total liar because the audio recording is TRULY proving otherwise. And therefore, just right at this very moment in time, he will have no other choice but to step up and admit the very cold hard truth to the whole entire public.

This man is sick, a liar and belongs in prison. I feel bad for all the young idols from smaller lables, they go through so much bs. Who knows how many more cases like this there are...

Nice statement, Mr. CEO. As if he didn't know what was happening within his own company. He let everything slide because he could and he didn't want any scandals to come out. Obviously it didn't work, members of East Light are slowly taking a stand because they can't handle anymore of their bullshit. This group is pretty damn talented, seeing them on Unexpected Q and making medley's of songs is pretty tough. Even though they're around a scandal right now, it isn't the type of scandal that could totally ruin their careers. They're talented and there are other agencies - hopefully better ones - that would take them on and provide them the actual care they need to hone their skills like those of their seniors in the industry. East Light, I hope you guys keep fighting, you deserve better than this.

Well that audio recording is all that you need to show that the CEO is abusing is position of power over the young people in his company. The Department of Culture and Art of whoever are in charge of giving this company business licenses needs to step in and shut these people down! If they're doing it to the members of The East Light then God only knows how they treat their trainees and other artists...

koop isn't just dark and known for the slave contracts and the multiple types of abuses....it's got STAN the biggest insult to all groups who put up with being abused. Starving trainees is abuse verbal insults is abuse slapping trainees for not getting it right is physical abuse bullying is abuse cramming trainees in one room to sleep is abuse and a danger ( lots of common sense reasons why. If you don't know why, ask firefighters and paramedics) Not ensuring that their health and happiness comes first is ABUSE! Those stans who bully are nasty are no different! They are also Abusers. Kpop is oh so well known for having the worst fans for bullying the worst nastiness of verbal abuse, the massive disrespect to other artists by anti fans. Sadly those who are kind and respectful are not enough to out weigh the bad reputation has! I hope I made a point here. All of it has to stop! KPOP HAS SUCH INCREDIBLE TALENTS OF GROUPS AND THE REALLY UNFAIRLY IGNORED TALENTED SOLO ARTIST. WHEN DOES BEING PROUD OF THEM ALL BECOME THE MOST IMPORTANT ASPECT OF KPOP? STAN is a name and also mostly short for Stanley. Under the urban dictionary it means STalker fAN! ST AN! I AM EXTREMELY PROUD TO BE ANTI STAN! I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT!

I know him say "I will beat you to death" sounds really harsh to non-koreans. But, that is standard korean dad talk!!!

My dad always said to me "do you want to die" chugo shepo?

anyways, I guess it is bad to say to anyone who is not your kid

Dude... did you even watch the video?? What about the pictures of giant black bruises, blood, and the metal pole? To be strangled with guitar cables and beat and threatened by a fucking stranger for getting a note wrong?? I'm Korean too and I've had my beatings in my day, but nothing like that. That is just wrong. I will teach my kids with spankings too, but if anyone besides me touches them, I'd want to kill them.

Just remember how it felt to be hit, before choosing to hit your own child. You don't have to do it just because your parents chose to.

I'm Korean and I don't think that's the case. When your dad says that phrase to you, you KNOW he means it as a joke. Also the way he says it might be different. In this case, it was a threat, which makes it a crime. I don't know what a "standard korean dad talk" is, but my dad would never say that to me.. even as a joke.

also. It's not even all about the "do you want to die" threat. Did you watch the video clip??? This boy has enormous bruises and cuts on his body. Can you comprehend the pain he feels as well as the fear?
