Fans are angry at British journalist who wrote about BTS RM's English in a 'mocking' tone

Fans are angry at a writer who criticized RM's English.�

Currently, BTS is in the United Kingdom for their 'Love Yourself' world tour. The K-pop stars,�who're also commonly referred to as "the biggest boy band in the world", has taken over the U.K media upon their arrival. Many media outlets including British national newspaper,�The Times, published an article about the idol stars.�

Unfortunately, the piece is receiving complaints from ARMYs for its negative tone. The part that angered the fans the most is where the writer mentioned how RM learned English from the show 'Friends', and commented, "[RM] does indeed speak with impregnable confidence and faultless intonation, although (despite the claim of my fan guide that he has an IQ of 148) his occasionally baffling syntax gives the impression that he is channelling Joey rather than Chandler."

Many fans are angered by the writer's remark and commented,�

the people criticising namjoon's fluency in the english language are the same people who speak only one yet still can't differentiate your and you're so i rest my case

an interviewer actually had the audacity to criticize namjoon's english. namjoon taught himself englush JUST by watching a show numerous times � he didn't have to do that. that shows his dedication. now he speaks better english than most native english speakers. ugh i feel sick.

I just read it. It reduces them to a compete novelty act, mocks the fact English isn't Namjoon's first language and also implies that because Yoongi is the only one whose upfront about his depression and anxiety that he is the only relevant member. I feel very sad...

Why so much focus on their relationships!? It's not important at all. And comparing RM's English ability to looking like Joey is just mean, especially when it's likely the editor can't speak a second language fluently either.

The jab at RM's IQ and way of speech was stunningly awful. I'm not sure how I'll ever get over that part

On the other hand, there are some who didn't find the writer's comment offensive. These fans stated,�

The article definitely had its negative points, but I don't think it was any way defamatory or insulting that it would call for a mass complaint. Plus, there were positives too, like good research. Not every review/article will be glowing or written from a fans perspective.
