On March 30, SM Entertainment announced that Joy is unable to attend the upcoming concert in Pyongyang, North Korea with the rest of the Red Velvet members as originally announced, due to her scheduling conflicts as she has to film for the drama 'Great Temptation'.

Joy's absence was announced just a day before the event. Furthermore, the government and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism revealed that they were unaware of Joy's absence until they saw the news through media outlets, implying that SM Entertainment did not give them a proper heads up.
Some netizens are criticizing Joy and her agency for the poor management, especially since this is an important, groundbreaking event.
Comments stated, "If they cannot make it as a whole then I think it's right for another group to attend instead...", "She's a singer before she's an actress", "This is not some music show.
