Psy revealed to have rejected an offer to perform at the '2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics'

Psy
The '2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics' officially drew to a close on February 25. At the closing ceremony of the grand event, top K-Pop boy group EXO and singer CLdominated the stage with fiery performances. In addition to EXO and CL, many were hoping for Psy to represent the nation and make a surprise appearance, similar to how 'Ice Queen' Kim Yuna unexpectedly appeared as the last torchbearer in the opening ceremony. However, there were no surprises and the performances were completed with only EXO and CL.

Song Seung Hwan, the head director of the opening and closing ceremonies of this year's Olympics, revealed that Psy was actually given an offer to perform but rejected it.

He explained, "I met Psy and gave an offer", but "Psy felt pressure in continuously performing 'Gangnam Style' over and over again." And added, "Psy's 'Gangnam Style' was played in the opening ceremony when the athletes entered and that was edited by Psy himself."

Overall, it's revealed that Psy rejected performance offers due to pressure. Song Seung Hwan commented, "People criticize when someone appears at a certain event but also criticize when they don't make an appearance. It's tough being a celebrity."
