After news of their relationship made headlines, G.O followed up with an Instagram post. On January 2, he shared the below photo of the couple along with the message:

"Hello, this is G.O. Happy New Year! This morning, some familiar names were high on search rankings. We were planning to personally share the news in the near future. It's unfortunate an article was published first, but it's okay because it's good news. To be honest, the most unfortunate thing is the photo of me being used. I haven't gained a lot of fame or success like I wanted, but I've gone through a lot of things over the past 10 years since my debut in 2007. What I felt most is that it's very difficult to have someone by my side. I felt the pressure to always be someone who's needed in work, love, and friendship, and there weren't many people who recognized me and accepted me for who I am. Time passed like that until I met someone when I was at my most average state, and that was Choi Ye Seul. She's someone who accepted me and has been considerate of so much. I'm so happy. I believe this happiness I feel will spread to those who love me like a happy virus. Though I'm an adult now, my mistakes never end. If I'm lacking or immature in any way, I hope you'll be understanding of me and my actions. Thank you for reading my words, and I want to sincerely thank everyone who's congratulating us."
