During a recent recording for tvN's new variety show 'Our Life School', F.T. Island member Hongki had an honest talk about how he feels like he's slowly being forgotten.

Hongki began, "I feel like I am slowly being forgotten."  He went on to explain, "Numerous junior singers and actors are debuting and because of that I've fallen into a slump."

"Energetic juniors are sprouting here and there causing us seniors to feel intimidated and overwhelmed... We wish to live a big, lavish life, however, are always trapped in a minuscule life."

I feel that exact same way. He has an amazing voice and unlimited potential which he is just starting to unleash. The problem is that he is unleashing his talent a genre that is not popular in South Korea. Personally his rock music enhances his voice. I hope his new album in the summer will change their minds...

With his voice I can't see how anyone would forget him.  I can hear him sing and without even knowing the song I can tell it is him. Wish he could get another drama as I love seeing him as well.

the life of an idol/idol group. 90% of popular idols will be relevant for about 5 years. Before that you are a nugu and after that people will find other idols to stan. Very few stay popular longer than that. Sad, but very much true on the Korean idol scene.

hiroonakamura Wednesday, May 3, 2017

in hongki's case, he is even more irrelevant in Korea because his band has focused so much time in Japan that the fans in Korea have forgotten about his group. The ones who do remember are getting to old to buy as much stuff as back in the days. Also, rock music just isnt that popular in Korea right now even if the songs are really good

i think it's more like within the first 5 yrs it's either you make it big or you disband. The band's popularity stayed over the years and there are still a lot of residual fans. Even if fans like new idol groups, you'll never turn your back to your first/original group. They focused too much on their Japanese promotions that's why. It's been over 2 yrs since Hongki's last drama too.

Comments here make think that FTISLAND is on verge of disbandment. But I want to say for those who think like that. FTISLAND don't plan to disband anytime soon. FTISLAND still make a lot of money and have concerts tours and comeback every year in Korea & Japan.Their Korean comeback is planned for this June 7th. It's their 10th anniversary. So please give them a lot of attention. FT members plans to be a lot more active this year to make this comeback successful.

hongki having a sunbae-star midlife crisis, but being honest about it, i can respect that tbh. i think it's a pretty legit way to feel especially in such a budding business, but i hope they get over it and come back with more good songs and energies, FTIsland is pretty unique both with their style and sound of music so...
