Song Hye Kyo will be spreading knowledge about Korean history in Japan.

March 1 is the commemorative day of the independence movement against Japanese colonial rule in Korea, and this year, 10,000 copies of pamphlets that Song Hye Kyo funded will be distributed in Tokyo.

The pamphlet, titled 'Meeting our history overseas - Tokyo' is a pamphlet about various historical Korean monuments all over Tokyo. It is printed in both Japanese and Korean. The actress planned the pamphlets with Professor Seo Kyung Deok, and the pamphlets were placed in motels all over Tokyo.

Song Hye Kyo said, "I hope that even something this small will help Korean tourists in Tokyo have a little more interest in Korean history that's all over the world."

if it's targeted at korean tourists... shouldn't they spread those pamphlets in travel agencies in korea instead? Because spreading it in tokyo would target an audience of which 90% doesn't know what it's about, 9% would probably wonder what kind of ulterior motive is behind it, and 1% would be the actual korean tourist they're trying to target. So that's 99% waste of money. (disclaimer: percentages may not actually reflect reality)

nothing wrong with that. everyone grows and changes their views over time. as a non korean or japanese i try to be understanding and not judge today because of yesterday. I'm american so i already know everyone has bad and good history they must learn from. hopefully people can think more positively about each other!

If Europeans can unite despite 2000 years of slaughtering, brutalizing, and oppressing each other, so can Koreans and Japanese. The two countries, peoples, and cultures are far more similar to each other than they are with anyone else in the world, and each has had important historical impacts on the other. Hopefully they can unite and form a deep alliance in the future. Both share the same threats and neither can face them alone.
