They're like a mix of SKT T1 and The Power Rangers, colorful but always the defending champs. This is my jam though. I thought it was going to be an uptempo song from the teasers, but it's more mellow and laidback while still fitting that Big Bang style. Teddy never disappoints with his production. It's a song you just put on and bounce your head to. There were many awesome songs in 2016 but I'll give the nod to Big Bang.

I gotta say, despite the flak the song received, I am absolutely in love with it. From the catchy chorus to the provocative way the girls moan "Ohh Oh Oh" and "Butt" - I just can't get over how hilariously great "Butt" is! What is even better is that the girls of I-REN have really great vocals. The song also has a pleasant disco-like instrumental and includes a sweet rise in tempo towards the end. Oddly enough, it is actually a sad song if you listen to the lyrics, but it has an upbeat tune that will keep you energized for days.

To be honest, I almost chose Jin's "Awake" because I'm a shameless Jin bias, but I managed to control myself. I love, love, love "Save Me." I think it's their best release of the year, above all their title songs, both song and choreography-wise. I'm kind of miffed at the line distributions, but that's something I've gotten used to, and the song overall works so beautifully with Jimin and Jungkook's voices that I can't even be annoyed. "Save Me" is slower than what we're used to from BTS, but it's definitely one of their defining songs.

This was an incredibly addictive song that I could put on replay for days! Something about it was very beautiful, poignant, sentimental, and catchy. There was both artistry beyond that of K-Pop and the typical allure of K-Pop at the same time - it was the best of both worlds. It's also an extremely fun song to sing along to, especially with Yuju's high notes to (try to) belt out, which adds to the appeal. I think the instrumental is also stunning with the swelling violins, the group's typical 90s sound, and a touch of that rock flair in that awesome dance break.

I love that "Home" is different from her usual style. Ailee's former songs tend to highlight high notes and are very upbeat while forcing the catchy melody line, and as much as I respect Ailee's singing ability, I had a hard time enjoying her songs. However, "Home" made me really appreciate her vocals -- she's more than belting out high notes! She can sing anything while conveying emotions with each note. Also, this more serious and edgy sound with an R&B/hip hop/urban vibe showcases Ailee's more mature voice.

The original "Couple" released in 1998 is one of my favorite songs and the 2016 version is just as great! Usually, remakes tend to be not as good as the original but the 2016 version didn't disappoint me. "Couple (2016)" is more trendy with the addition of the electro beat but also kept it's original sweet vibe with the melodic piano. Overall, I just really love this song and I can listen to it over and over and over again!

For a K-Pop fan, this song is mind-blowing in several ways. Sechskies was a little before my time so I didn't know much about them, which meant that when they came back, for me, it was that wonder of first discovering a new group, including getting to know them and finding out how talented and amazing they are. But on top of that new wonder, their song and their aura as a whole has a respectability for being an original 1st generation idol group with a fanbase that is still super strong to this day. Not to mention, this song is a song dedicated to their fans, whom they've been apart from for 16 years. The song is beautiful in itself, but it's even more beautiful when it makes me imagine what it'll be like for my favorite group to one day reunite after a long time away, and how touching and heartwarming and overwhelming it'll be then. Maybe I'm getting too deep, but that's what I feel about this song, and no other song from this year can beat the meaningfulness and just plain goodness of this song.

There's no doubt Crush's voice is the centerpiece of the song, and he has one that doesn't need much support. What really made "Don't Forget" for me though is the jazzy, acoustic accompaniment that act as his duet partner, while Taeyeon's part serves as a nice pop break. Crush's RnB style is so wonderfully balanced with the song's quieter elements, and it's all done in a way that's never too much and always just enough.

Bursting onto the K-pop scene in October, not only did these Produce 101 alums score a huge hit with this fierce dance number but also the MV was one of the most viewed girl group debut videos this year. Fusing fiery hip hop beats with electronica was the perfect formula to fuel my addiction.
