He featured as a contestant on the January 10th installment of the quiz show '1 vs 100', and MC Jo Choong Hyun asked him, "I heard that you have most self-composed songs among idols and that your nickname is Jin-thoven. Do you split it with your members?"

Jinyoung responded, "The income we get from copyrights are our individual creative works, so we don't split that."

that's correct baby,  we need to prepare for our future

Note that the AKP Article says 'no split' with MEMBERS ; at least as written. Which, I will *guess* that MAYBE their AGENCY does get a MONEY 'share' of the situation somehow. So, I am suggesting that JIN YOUNG does still have to 'split' with his AGENCY somehow on songs that he does author them. But, I do *not* know that to be true either.

at least in the US, it's industry standard for the agency to get a cut on everything their artists make, even if it's just the normal 10% management fee. in this case, the agency/artist split is probably in jinyoung's favor.

why is this news

s0ne221 gelaaa Tuesday, January 10, 2017

cuz lately ppl have been talking about hoe seolhyun has to share her income with the rest of her members maybe?

gelaaa s0ne221 Tuesday, January 10, 2017

still doesnt make this a legit news. and if you feel the need to call seolhyun names, pls don't do it under my comment because I happen to have morals and I don't appreciate name calling.

s0ne221 gelaaa Tuesday, January 10, 2017

oops i didnt actually notice but i mean how**** seolhyun has to share her income blah blah blah not the latter. sorry, i should have checked but in real life im not the type to use foul language. also i meant that seolhyun is known for having to share all her hard worked money but she still has to divide so maybe allkpop writer thought people also wanted to know about b1a4 and how their individual earnings were divided too. (also sorry again. hope there are no misunderstanding now ;)

This conversation went sour so quick hahaha

gelaaa s0ne221 Tuesday, January 10, 2017

lmao yeah nah its fine i just really dont like it when people call idols names, so im easily triggered by that lol sorz

I think it definitely sucks to split income but it's just how a lot of entertainment companies' contracts work. It comes with the contract that you as an artist sign. For instance, JYP and Cube have their artists split income. SM, on the other hand, doesn't. Splitting income could help foster a team while not splitting income could generate resentment. On the other hand, it is also unfortunate if you are doing a lot of work and have to give it away to other people. It's just a complicated situation but it is indeed part of the signed contract.

heheh same. my brother always swears but i find it disgusting and i feel uncomfortable when people around me use words like that bc theres no reason to ever call anyone something like that :/ welp

Sometimes that's not the case. Even when some idols act in dramas, some of them have to split the income with their members even though they're doing all the work.
