Cosmic Girls' Cheng Xiao is impressing fans with her rhythmic gymnastics at MBC's 'Idol Star Athletics Championships.'

A video is going viral where she shows off her flexible body in rhythmic gymnastics preparing for the Lunar New Year special of 'Idol Star Athletics Championships' at a gymnasium in Gyeonggi Providence.

Cheng Xiao makes impressive cartwheels while holding a hula hoop, demonstrating her quick reflexes.  Taking home the gold medal last year, the singer seems a bit pressured in this round.

The broadcast date for the Lunar New Year special is slated to be on January 30.

pink_oracle 7amdowh Wednesday, January 25, 2017

Mina, she chose to work with an easier prop.

shubhajan pink_oracle Wednesday, January 25, 2017

not really a ball in harder to work with then a hoop

pink_oracle shubhajan Wednesday, January 25, 2017

....Read what you just wrote. I shouldn't need to explain to you why it's wrong.

i think using hula hoop to do rythmic gymnastic is hard...last time mina make a lot of mistake too while using hula hoop right?

CosmicGirl Tuesday, January 24, 2017

She was so good. SO GOOD. I am a fan of WJSN and Twice and I think Cheng Xiao should have won.

I love chengxiao I think because of the year before she was pressured and tense. Its sad that she didn't win but judging should be fair so I understand why Mina won. Mistakes = deduction. This is how the support it judge. It really depends on how the athletes executes their routine.

the sport is judge*

cat_eustaquia Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Ok so I see a lot angry coments about the fact that she didn't won and I understand why because it's amazing she could pull that routine without having practiced years for it. However, as a former gymnast, I'm going to be very honest and explain you the judging criteria in this sport. In gymnast, quality is the most important thing, we get deductions for the smallest things such as feet positions in landings etc... The total points for a routine is done by adding the difficulty score to the performance score, the difficulty one is fixed deppending on the elements that the gymnast preforms and the performance one depends on how the gymnast performs them. So if the gymnast chooses to do crazy stunts but doesn't complete them perfectly, the performance score will only get lower with the deductions and so, the total score will be much lower than a gymnast that chooses to do something simpler but it's sure that will perform that with much more quality. I'm sorry If my English is not that good but I tried my best.

CosmicGirl cat_eustaquia Tuesday, January 24, 2017

I get all that, but I didn't think Mina had a better quality routine either. She seemed off balance the whole time.

cat_eustaquia CosmicGirl Tuesday, January 24, 2017

I just saw her performance again and honestly, I think the transitions between the elements were really smooth and everything about the whole routine was on point. I would prefer Cheng Xiao to win as well, I was trully amazed by her performance and I don't think they should judge Idols like true gymnasts but the truth is Mina was more flawless in what she presented

Thanks for the clarification, I did see both performances (the rehearsal version i mean) and i think if Chengxiao didnt make the mistakes people said she made she wouldve won gold. Im seeing too many people suddenly become gymnast professionals when they know nothing about the sport. Its good to see theres someone who actually knows how it works :)

cat_eustaquia introverteddeedl Tuesday, January 24, 2017

Thanks! I'm just glad my comment was actually useful haha And I think she would have definitely won gold, you don't need to be a gymnastics expert to see the difference between both routines

RockyKB Tuesday, January 24, 2017

For someone who isn't actually a gymnast, that was really good.
