Certain restaurants in Japan have been overloading wasabi into Korean customers' orders of sushi. At first, Korean customers thought it was just what the restaurant did, but as the SNS posts blew up, it became clear that Korean customers were being discriminated against in these restaurants.

'SNL Korea 8' put their two cents into the anger rising from Korean citizens. During their 8th episode, Yoo Se Yoon and Ahn Young Mi visited a sushi restaurant, where they were treated with sushi packed with wasabi. When Yoo Se Yoon asked, "Is sushi supposed to be this spicy?", Kwon Hyuk Soo, parodying the sushi chef, said, "Korean people should just stuff their mouths with this much wasabi." Ahn Young Mi countered with, "Did you put this much wasabi on purpose?". and Kwon Hyuk Soo answered, "How dare you low Koreans try to eat sushi, which is for Japanese people? Koreans should just stuff their mouths with dwenjang and kimchi."

In the skit, Kim Joon Hyun came to the rescue, scooping up the wasabi-sushi without any problems and flustering the sushi chef. Kim Joon Hyun said, "I'm Jongro's food fighter Muk Doo Han."
