Kim So Hyun opened up about her decision to not enter high school.

Back in April of 2015, Kim So Hyun announced that she would not be pursuing further education in order to focus solely on acting. During a recent interview with Xports News, Kim So Hyun stated, "I've never regretted my decision of not entering high school. I really did love meeting good friends in school, but it was difficult to simultaneously pursue acting and academics because I couldn't fully participate in class, but had to take all of the exams. I got embarrassed when I received poor grades. With that in consideration, I gave up entering high school thinking that instead of spending 3 years in high school, I could rather focus on acting and study when I have time."

Kim So Hyun continued, "To be honest, I wasn't sure of my decision back then. But fortunately, I was able to participate in good productions and am glad that everything is going well. I also don't feel the emptiness caused by not going to school because I am in school during a lot of my productions. I am making memories on set."

Good for you, Kim So Hyun!

she's homeschooled. KSH is known for being a top student. Maybe her not being able to attend classes due to conflicting schedules, thereby making her get low grades, had been causing her a lot of stress.

not enter high school?  seriously... to make that decision when things are going good... but what if the gravy train stops?

She is lucky to be a successful actress otherwise not entering high school would have been a huge mistake.

Even though education is insanely important, especially in a country like Korea who values education for the young over like everything, I think she did make a good choice. She is still only 17 and is getting the leading roles in big name dramas. Anyone can tell that she her career further down will get big. Also if she chooses to she can always just go back and take a GED to get her high school diploma if she wanted to.

exactly, there are always options, i left school after 16 and got 2 diplomas in the following years and now for the 1st time in 11 years i need to finish highschool to study at a university

School is a precious time.

Most celebs in America have tutors who give them classes in between sets, and if they're not working, at home. It has to be a hassle to try and attend "normal" school when you are famous. I can empathize with her. LOL

I feel like in Korea, it's all so easy for celebs. I mean, if you can't focus yet then you can delay. If it was in my country, I think no one dared to delay because they afraid of people's judgements. So far, there's no celebs that delay their high school/studies. They either just go to school but don't care about grades or delay their career and study first. There's even some celebs who didn't take the important exams smh. Good that in Korea, study is important and they dare to take the risk as long as they can strive and grad.

Well considering that you have to finish highschool in most countries its not even an option.

Hopefully in korea they have opportunities for adult to test for their GEDs that way even in the future she can always get the diploma without having to attend school
