Stellar got chatty in an interview with Sports DongA, talking about everything from the members' personalities to their frustration at only being known as 'sexy' idols.

When asked about each member's personality, the girls replied, "Gayoung is quiet, calm, and extremely reserved. Minhee is gabby, very expressive, and doesn't act feminine. If Minhee's mood is down, then the overall mood within Stellar goes down, and if her mood goes up, Stellar's mood goes up, too. Jeon Yul's good at variety but you never know what she might say so you have to act as a sort of filter [for what she says] by sitting next to her. Minhee's got the most sass on stage. Hyoeun's popular among our female fans.

The girls also talked about if they ever wanted to quit being idols, saying, "The toughest time for us is our breaks [in between promotions]. We've developed a longing for the stage as we waited for new songs. It was difficult for us to do a sexy concept like 'Marionette.' But if we do a different concept, then we end being forgotten. There is just no reaction when we attempt something different. We feel frustrated that the public only views us as 'sexy' idols."

Stellar then revealed the methods they use to deal with malicious internet comments. They said, "Theses days, we don't see many malicious comments. When we see comments that could help us, we think that we should [use the comments as a guide to] improve ourselves. But if they are just troll comments, then we just ignore them or press dislike.

The girls weren't afraid to openly discuss the topic of dating, saying, "The agency allows dating, but we are not seeing anyone. Before, we were actually reprimanded for not dating." Well, it's not too late to begin, ladies!

I think Stellar would do great with a "Playful" concept. Something kinda like D.Holic's Chewy or Bestie's Excuse Me mvs. I get the impression that Stellar is a group that really wants to break out and show new sides of themselves, like they have pent up energy from doing the same concept over and over again, and I think a playful concept would suit them. That being said, I also think companies need to think more outside the box when coming up with styles for idols. There's so much more to work with besides sexy concepts, cute concepts, etc. Maybe a creepy fantasy concept? A drama-esque concept? A dream like concept? A period/history concept? There's so much more idols can do, and they should also get a say in what they want to do.

why do they remind me of Gna?  wow theres a name i haven't heard in a LONG time btw.

Sadly, I can't feel bad for them. I understand the company's need to promote the girls as sexy because of financial difficulties. But, it was the route they chose. Haven't they done much else, it's not the audience's fault for seeing them as "the sexy idols". Also, if they can't sell, it might say something about the industry itself, e.g. overcrowding of groups, or trends.

yeah that video they did with so many obvious suggestive sexual lyrics stigmatized them. like they were in panties walking around drinking milk like they were giving a blowjob. its really the agency's fault, not really the girls i figure. they seem like good girls forced to act like hyunA.

i see your point but if you go through their past releases you will see they tried many times to work with cute but it didnt sell nothing and if you had followed them recently you would see that they even trying to promote a cute ceoncept b-side called love spell but they didnt had any money and the video itself endend up being shit but i agree 100% with that last part about the industry

I'm sorry but as bad as it may sound I can't bring myself to feel bad for them. Singing is not their hobby, it's their job. You can't really complain about having to give your customers what they want.

ana_martins Thursday, September 1, 2016

well is kinda they fault (or better their company fault). i liked their last song (cry) but the others was kinda boring to me and the sexual concepts didn´t help to make me interested on them. it basicaly just pull me awayi hope that now they start to down down and realease more things like cry that was amazing

*toned down

Stellar reminds me how some HK actresses started off with Cat3 (porn) movies, but slowly get famous and gradually moved on to A grade actresses. They may have started off with sexy concept because it was the only way to keep the group from disbanding, and making a loss, as the other concepts just didnt sell enough. However I think the recent albums "Vibrato" and "Cry" did pretty well, and the response on makestar for crowd-funding went over 500% or 5 times their fund target. while they are no where near getting a #1 win on music show, they are at least not struggling to make ends meet now, and their instagram posts also show them having photo shoots which would be have happened 1 or 2 years ago.

Winston Thursday, September 1, 2016

I think its a lot better now with their latest comeback "Cry" they toned down the sexiness a lot even the MV also, and still it did pretty well and even ranked as high as #5 place i think, in the past when they didnt do a sexy concept the song ranked way below top 20, ard #40+ spot.

Funky_Angel Thursday, September 1, 2016

Hey, don't blame us when you're the ones who don't care about actual talent and only care about stripping down

minivilly Thursday, September 1, 2016

This is what you do, do you want people to see you any other way? They chose to take the sexy route to stay relevant, well that's their choice, can't really complain about it

Winston minivilly Thursday, September 1, 2016

They had to do so, because when they didnt do it, the album flopped and the company was on the verge of bankrupt and disbanding the group already, its more of a NEED to do, than a DESIRE to do it. However i think its good that they now no longer need to do sexy concepts to stay afloat.

mi_goreng Thursday, September 1, 2016

um what do they expect, the public know them for their sexy concepts...
