Netizens are reacting to fromis_9 snagging a prestigious win on 'Music Bank' with "Like You Better."
On an online forum, users discussed the girl group’s recent win, especially as it comes during a major turning point in their career. After spending three years under Pledis Entertainment within HYBE, fromis_9 has now moved to the smaller agency ASND Entertainment.
This marks the group’s fourth agency since their debut—starting at Stone Music Entertainment in 2017 after appearing on the Mnet audition program 'Idol School,' then moving to Off The Record Entertainment in 2018, and later joining Pledis.
Along with their agency change, the group also reorganized as a five-member team following the departure of four members. This win marks their first comeback under ASND with the release of their sixth mini album, 'From Our 20's,' featuring the title track "Like You Better," which earned them the #1 trophy on the KBS music program.
Netizens congratulated the group warmly, especially noting their surprising victory over SM Entertainment’s powerhouse girl group aespa, who had recently returned with "Dirty Work."
fromis_9 outperformed aespa in the fan voting category, earning 2,000 points compared to aespa’s 174—a gap that many say reflects how dedicated fans worked tirelessly to support the group, even when facing one of the most prominent names in K-pop.
It’s worth noting that aespa had only returned to 'Music Bank' on the day of the broadcast, which meant they earned zero points in the 'broadcast appearance frequency' category. This also contributed to their lower total score compared to fromis_9.
During the acceptance speech, fromis_9’s Song Ha Young expressed gratitude to their new company, ASND Entertainment, saying, "Thank you for taking such good care of us on all fronts, including every little thing," and also thanked their fans. Netizens pointed out that members Lee Na Gyung and Park Ji Won—who rarely show tears—were seen crying, leading many to believe the group had gone through significant challenges while restructuring and starting over at a new agency.
