On August 30, WM Entertainment updated fans on Oh My Girl JinE's condition with anorexia and also addressed rumors about the label's harsh dieting rules.

A rep of WM Entertainment first said, "JinE is currently spending time with her family and recovering her health. Her condition with anorexia is quickly improving, and she is now emotionally stable."

The label went on to explain, "JinE, who is 159cm tall, gained great stress from malicious comments calling her fat despite her normal size. Then her weight dropped down to a low 40kg and even 38kg at the worst. After discussing the matter with JinE and her parents, we decided it would be best for her to halt all promotions because we believed her health was at risk."

In response to the rumors about the label's harsh dieting rules, WM Entertainment stated, "There is absolutely no such thing. We can assure you on that part. We have never pressured harsh dieting or weight restrictions. Our company allows the members to freely take care of themselves."

Lastly, the rep said, "As JinE receives treatments and focuses on recovery, please give her support until she returns to Oh My Girl."

I absolutely blame her company, along with Netizens, for all this poor girl is going through. Yes, the people who made horrible comments about her have not helped this situation at all. But the fact of the matter is, the pressures that companies put on idols to get thin goes to the extreme, and now young people like JinE suffer the consequences. The moment they first announced her issues, I couldn't believe that a mere month later they revealed that she would continue promotions and was doing 'so much better'. Eating disorders don't work like that, mental health issues don't just go away after a couple of weeks of therapy. Furthermore, while I'm sure the fans appreciate being kept up to speed, I think a lot of people aren't paying attention to another huge 'elephant in the room'. Having an eating disorder is a painful and personal process, and in many cases people feel shame and embarrassment for what they're going through. Imagine how she must feel, having this plastered all over the news and gossip columns- she probably feels like a failure for having to stop promotions to deal with this, on top of her other underlying issues which have exacerbated her disorder. Her company has not handled this well in the least, I can't imagine the damage of having her illness spread about like this, and how it must be affecting her. I hope that for once she gets some legitimate help for her issues, and that people will give her the space and consideration she both needs and deserves while she goes through this painful process.

I'm far more skeptical of all the other companies who pretend that their dangerously underweight idols have no health problems than I am of WM Entertainment who has been straightforward in ensuring she gets the help and rest she needs.

netizen are to blame for this.

If you convert 40kg to pounds it's about 88 pounds, that's pretty scary especially at the age that she is.

Maybe the company has some responsibility on this matter with their weight control but some netizens also are to be blamed on this as they are the first to criticize how "fat" an idol even if it's not the case... She certainly felt the need to get thinner and thinner. Hope she'll get well soon!!

That's exactly what I think too. Yes, the company possibly did put some pressure on all the girls to be slim but it's the unkind comments of netizens and so called fans that will hurt the most!

Why are people always trying to play the blame game? It's a combination of societal and career pressure, and some people even think it might be a mental issue. It would be better to focus on cheering her on so she gets better than trying to spread the negativity.

I think Sandeul never was pressured bc of his weight. So I hope JIne wasn't as well?

OhMyGuy Wednesday, August 31, 2016

No I think she just caved from pressure to get thinner, but I'm glad she's getting better
