A 29-year-old former idol rapper identified by his surname Choi was reported to have been sentenced to prison for charges of smuggling marijuana.

The Seoul District Court revealed on June 16 that it has sentenced Choi to two years and six months in prison, a suspended sentence of three years, 160 hours of community service and probation, and 80 hours of drug therapy courses.

The court stated, "Choi carefully premeditated his criminal act through the use of an application which hid his bitcoin transaction history, and the amount of marijuana he smuggled is not a small amount. However, we took into consideration the fact that the marijuana confiscated was entirely seized and was not distributed in the market and that [Choi] conceded to and is deeply reflecting on his crime."

Choi was exposed by the authorities trying to smuggle 28.8g (~1.02 ounces) of marijuana which he purchased using an online application and bitcoins last November. The marijuana Choi purchased was confiscated in its entirety.

Meanwhile, Choi was once the member of an idol group but after he left the group, he promoted as a solo artist and released several albums.

Frankly don't care about people who chose to destroy their lives. So I'm scrolling down with popcorn in  my hand for the comments and speculations.

ajshawol1990 Friday, June 17, 2016

Plus one ounce is legal in most countries.

bangeryun94 ajshawol1990 Saturday, June 18, 2016

ajshawol1990 bangeryun94 Monday, June 20, 2016

ariel1234 Friday, June 17, 2016

WOWWWW. 28 GRAMS AND ONLY 2 FUCKING YEARS IN PRISON! MEANWHILE WE HAVE PEOPLE SERVING 13+ YEARS FOR 2 GRAMS BITCH IM GONNNEEEE! Seriously I don't know where the hell Korea gets their info on marijuana from but they need to educate themselves more on the drug. Legit making up side effects of marijuana and saying how bad it is for health and all that bs, but I guess alcohol poisoning is ok though. girl bye....

jennkyube ariel1234 Friday, June 17, 2016

In some countries, it's straight up death sentence.

Peaches_Rose Friday, June 17, 2016

who is it?

selenajyp Thursday, June 16, 2016

Why when it is Yoochun, they did the contrary? Revealed his name even though police hasn't find any evidences? this is so fucked up

YueYuu selenajyp Friday, June 17, 2016

That's very true.

vataedance selenajyp Saturday, June 18, 2016

This is so true.

MyTwoCent Thursday, June 16, 2016

...but drinking alchohol til you puke and pass out and old men asking for teen girls personalities and if theyre interested in grown men are accepted there.  warped.

bobbatea MyTwoCent Thursday, June 16, 2016

tbh alchohol is a lot better and safer than marijuana. plus drugs (not alcohol drugs) are more used and popular than alcohol. also you have to be 21 to drink, drugs you can get at any age, there are high schoolers and middle schoolers that do drugs, not only is it sad it's fucking gross and it smells like fuckintg shit.

bobbatea MyTwoCent Thursday, June 16, 2016

I don't agree with this, this is a really stupid thing and a reason. but Alcohol is a lot safer. 1 shot or 1 drink can't do much harm. but 1 smoke of Marijuana and any other drugs fucks you up so hard man omg it's not funny, it's sad and scary. Plus have you seen Flakka? That shit is fucking scary, that's like some satanic zombie shit omg.

BigBlueagain bobbatea Friday, June 17, 2016

You really need to know what you're talking about before you post shit like this and look like an idiot.

MikkiLMack bobbatea Friday, June 17, 2016

Really?? means you believe the hype. You are more likely to cause a deadly accident after 1 shot of alcohol then 1 hit of a joint. It is now being used for cancer patient to counteract the effect of chemo and radiation. It can help relieve pain as well. The byproducts of hemp can be used to make cloth, paper and even an additive to food as a protein boost. Let me know when alcohol can do that.

ariel1234 bobbatea Friday, June 17, 2016

Please tell me your joking omfg.... "alcohol is safer than marijuana" girlllllllllllllll you must be off the shits right now

troongstar bobbatea Friday, June 17, 2016

1 smoke of marijuana? You mean 1 joint? 1 bong hit? It won't harm you. Drinking in the long term causes major problems to your body. Marijuana, does as well, but no where near the extent alcohol does. Marijuana > Alcohol > Smoking Cigarettes. That's the general consensus on the safety levels of these 3 drugs. Marijuana, does not fuck you up. You get high, you get chill. Now Cocaine, Heroin, Meth, Ice. THESE fuck you up. Honestly, you're about as uneducated on different drugs and their affects on the body as any ignorant person should be. Please read more.

ajshawol1990 bobbatea Friday, June 17, 2016

Sure girl! Whatever makes you feel better.

lovelynnnnnn troongstar Friday, June 17, 2016

THANK YOU! Someone who actually understands how weed works

BigBlueagain lovelynnnnnn Friday, June 17, 2016

Tell me something. How many people have died from weed? I'll wait while you look it up.

lovelynnnnnn BigBlueagain Friday, June 17, 2016

From what I read there's nothing. Have you found anything? I learnt this in an anthropolgy lecture a couple years back and there hasn't been any reports on a weed overdose. There's been some cases on shrooms and in other big drugs out there

BigBlueagain lovelynnnnnn Friday, June 17, 2016

My bad. Thought you'd replied to Bobbleheadtea there. NM. :)

lovelynnnnnn BigBlueagain Friday, June 17, 2016

Lol well they'll see the comment anyway. It would take a miracle for someone to overdose on weed. For other drugs... there's a high chance in ODing instantly. Be it popping pills, sniffing coke or injecting heroin and other shit. I'd prefer smoking weed than taking a risk in an accidental OD.

BigBlueagain Thursday, June 16, 2016

So... you can get so fucked up you can't even walk. You can shove drugs down your kids to keep them from being hyper, but you can't smoke something that could be, literally, grown in your backyard. STOOOOOOPID!

bangeryun94 BigBlueagain Saturday, June 18, 2016

Yep, we have antiquated laws on weed. I've been researching why the laws were so strict. It seems we were part of the Opium Highway back in the late 50s, 60s and 70s. Also your President Reagan's war on drugs affected us as well. We have the most conservative party sitting as President but her people have lost the legislative seats. Maybe something will happen. Medical marijuana saved me from getting my colon removed. The issue I had went into remission. And no I wasn't in Korea.

BigBlueagain bangeryun94 Saturday, June 18, 2016

The whole war on drugs was nothing more than a bullshiting of the American people to pay into the Military Industrial Machine and to secure profits for the megapharmacutical corps.

bangeryun94 BigBlueagain Sunday, June 19, 2016

And also we still have outdated medical procedures as well. When Korean doctors who went to medical school outside of Korea come home and teach or utilise procedures that the west just take for granted, it's met with a lot of resistance especially from Drs' passed 50.

Meepu Thursday, June 16, 2016

I'll never understand why marijuana is seen as so evil yet alcoholic is perfectly acceptable. In South Korea in the more popular entertainment and party districts you can drink until the sun comes up. In the morning you go out and there's literally tons of people passed out from getting fucked up the night before just laying in the streets. Everybody is ok with that. Yet somebody smokes some marijuana or has some on them and suddenly they are treated worse than rapists in South Korea. The war on drugs is stupid and will never work, governments need to understand that quicker.

BigBlueagain Meepu Thursday, June 16, 2016

Armyinthehouse Thursday, June 16, 2016

I don´t undrestand this life XD In korea they drink alcohol like there´s no tomorrow, another drug that it´s as dangerous but when someone smuggle some marijuana... I can´t.

lovelynnnnnn Thursday, June 16, 2016

Marijuana is literally the most harmless drug out there! It's the only drug where you cannot overdose from. Legit, every drug you can take, you can probably die from it but not with a weed. And 28 grams isn't a lot. I wonder who it is... I don't know any other rapper that has the last name Choi except TOP. Lol i legit thought it was him for a sec

bobbatea lovelynnnnnn Thursday, June 16, 2016

" Marijuana is literally the most harmless drug out there! " bullshit.

jennkyube lovelynnnnnn Friday, June 17, 2016

"The only drug where you cannot overdose from." Well aren't you high. That thing is Schedule I controlled substance in the US, meaning its the most easily abused.

lovelynnnnnn bobbatea Friday, June 17, 2016

It is harmless. And has great purpose when used medically.

lovelynnnnnn jennkyube Friday, June 17, 2016

There's like a 0.000001% chance of overdosing on weed. Have you ever actually heard anyone dying from a weed overdose?

jennkyube lovelynnnnnn Friday, June 17, 2016

I have, I work in the hospital. Chance is still a chance, no matter how slim that is. And btw, the percentage is a lot higher than that. If marijuana is that harmless, it won't be put in the highest level of restriction by the DEA. Do your research right. Go read medical journal, not some articles written by some random people who don't know what they're talking about.

lovelynnnnnn jennkyube Friday, June 17, 2016

I have read research. They were part of the course I took and I'm pretty sure the last I looked and was told by a professor that the number of percentage is about right. If a person died from smoking weed, that person may have mixed it with other drugs to get a bigger hit.

jennkyube lovelynnnnnn Friday, June 17, 2016

I thought you'd know by now that class and real life situations are two different things. I've seen what marijuana abuse can do to people, putting out claims that it's harmless is foolish, not to mention being disrespectful to the families of people who died from it. I'm not sure where you get the idea that its a harmless drug. if it comes from your professor, I doubt he should be allowed to teach anymore.

lovelynnnnnn jennkyube Saturday, June 18, 2016

It didn't come from the professor, it's how I see the drug. I completely understood the professors point on the effects and how it can be harmful. But never have I seen marijuana harmless in anyway.

bangeryun94 jennkyube Saturday, June 18, 2016

Abuse is not the same as overdose. And most states don't consider weed a high tier dangerous drug anymore.

jennkyube lovelynnnnnn Saturday, June 18, 2016

"Marijuana is literally the most harmless drug out there!" Just wanted to point out what you wrote in the beginning. Lol

jennkyube bangeryun94 Saturday, June 18, 2016

Abuse CAN lead to overdose, which in most cases do. And the last time I checked, it still IS schedule 1 controlled substance. A.k.a. "high tier dangerous". What you referred to "most states" are only those who permit marijuana for recreational uses, namely Colorado, Oregon, etc. However, most of the states who allow marijuana use only limit it to medical use because of its highly abuse potentiality.

lovelynnnnnn jennkyube Saturday, June 18, 2016

Yes and I still stand by it.

bangeryun94 jennkyube Sunday, June 19, 2016

We got the idea from medical journals and physicians. And I just went through stats for marijuana deaths in the US, UK, Australia and Canada. You've been misinformed and that's rather sad since you're a medical professional. There have deaths from synthetic marijuana which isn't really marijuana at all and deaths where other combinations of drugs were present. The plant that you can smoke or mix with food has zero 0 deaths on it

bangeryun94 jennkyube Sunday, June 19, 2016

Sorry, but you're wrong. Most states have dropped the schedule 1 category for weed, the plant. Growing more than 1 plant with the intention to sell carries rather strict penalties. Again, for a medical professional, your understanding of the plant is concerning

jennkyube lovelynnnnnn Sunday, June 19, 2016

"But never have I seen marijuana harmless in anyway." So which one is it? Pick a side, young person. You cannot stand on both.

jennkyube bangeryun94 Sunday, June 19, 2016

Oh am I? Tell me again, which states dropped the schedule 1? Because as of now, it is STILL schedule 1 in MOST states here in the US. So far less than half of the states approved medical use of marijuana, and out of those who approved, only about 25% of them actually allow recreational uses. Your understanding of the law is the concerning one.

bangeryun94 jennkyube Sunday, June 19, 2016

And yet MOST states don't even make arrests for marijuana unless it's massive quantities. We can argue this all day. You are incorrect. I only go to school in the US; I'm not a citizen. Your lack of information on the plant itself and laws that cover it as well as demonising the plant with baseless balderdash is rather alarming. The fear tactic might work on in the dark, clueless Americans. It can't pass the smell test here.
