'SBS Gayo Daejun' clears Mino's name + both apologize for the mistake of using the word 'archipelago'

winner, Song Min Ho (Mino)
WINNER's Song Min Ho (Mino) was recently criticized by netizens for calling Korea an 'archipelago' during SBS 'Gayo Daejun' while hosting the event. As mentioned before, it was revealed by a media outlet that Mino had simply read off the script given to him and perhaps did not realize the mistake.

Before the script was revealed, however, the PD of the show, perhaps not realizing what was on the script, had told the media that the word 'archipelago' hadn't been on the script and that Mino had probably been very nervous, leading to a mistake in his words.

But with the script being revealed and indicating that 'archipelago' had indeed been written on it, SBS received much backlash for not only their poor script but also seemingly having shifted the blame over to Mino at first.

Representatives of SBS Gayo Daejun released a formal apology, by writing, "We are here to make an apology regarding Song Min Ho's wrong word usage. We are deeply reflecting on our mistake for not having checked over the script, we will have more caution in the future as to not make such mistake again."

PD Kim Joo Hyung also corrected his prior statement and said that the fault lies within SBS production team. He said, "While having to make sudden adjustments to the script due to time limit issues, we unintentionally made a mistake... Song Min Ho had simply read off the script, so he is at no fault. All the fault is on me."

Although his name was cleared, Mino also offered his apology, stating, "I sincerely apologize. It is my fault and my lack of experience."
