On December 19, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)

Even President Barack Obama himself showed disapproval of Sony's decision, saying, "Imagine what they start doing when they see a documentary that they don't like or news reports that they don't like. Or even worse, imagine if producers and distributors and others start engaging in self-censorship because they don't want to offend the sensibilities of somebody whose sensibilities probably need to be offended. That's not who we are."

Most recently, the FBI has confirmed that the hackers are indeed directly from North Korea as they were able to identify malware and codes developed by North Korea in the hack attack. The White House is currently deliberating on how to respond to the issue as Obama has commented, "We will respond in a place and time and manner that we choose."
