SHINee's Onew was the next celebrity to take on the 'Ice Bucket Challenge,' but he chose to only donate rather than drench himself in cold water for health reasons.

A handwritten letter he posted onto his Twitter on August 24 explained, "I was challenged by my colleagues actor Seo Ha Joon, soccer athlete Lee Bum Young, and JACE's vocalist Seunghyun, which is how I came to participate in the 'Ice Bucket Challenge.'
I am currently recovering [from throat surgery], so I am greeting everyone through a donation and handwritten letter instead, but I am happy I can still participate in the campaign this way. I pray that everyone in the world fighting the disease will gain strength."
