Akdong Musician met up with Newsen on May 13 and talked about the freedom they're afforded while working under YG Entertainment.

Lee Chan Hyuk said, "While appearing on 'K-Pop Star 2,' we got to experience training with all three companies: YG, SM, and JYP Entertainment. �While the three judges were closely assessing us as preliminary artists in their agencies, we were actually assessing the three companies as our future agency, as well. �We felt that YG Entertainment treated the artists who personally wrote and sang their songs the best, so we signed on with them."

Lee Soo Hyun added that YG Entertainment was not the only company that treated them very well during the survival program. �She explained, "They taught us about music with a passion; in particular, SM Entertainment taught us how to hit high notes."

Lee Chan Hyuk said, "After signing with YG Entertainment, I started full-scale work on our music, but CEO Yang Hyun Suk and all of the other agency reps created a good atmosphere in which we could create music the way we wanted. �They did not interfere at all in what we did. �You could say we created our debut album mostly the way we wanted."

His sister added, "When working on our album, if we asked, 'How should we do this?' they told us, 'However you want.' �I really liked those aspects. �Without vocal training, we worked by ourselves. �The agency said they could assign a vocal director to us, but in the end, we only worked with the engineer who operated the machine when we recorded, but the rest was done only between the two of us."
